Forager is now available, DRM-free.

Gather, slay, or grow cute pixels to build even cuter ones! Inspired by the likes of Stardew Valley and Zelda, this 2D open world game challenges you to shape it and tame it by crafting, trading, or even cracking open some skulls!
finally )
Looks very interesting, and €20 is probably a more than fair price for what you're getting (based on what I can gather from the description and the trailer), but it's unfortunate that it released after I had already bought Katana ZERO, so I just added it to my wishlist, for now. It's one of those games I'll definitely buy down the road, nice to see it pop up in here.
I love this game!

It's always fun trying to get him across the road, and getting those flies for bonus points!

Play Crossy Road .

Wishlisted for now. :)

I was hoping for Lemmings but I hope that title comes another time. :-P
Not sure what to make of this. *shrug* I'll need to read some reviews first.

On a side note: I find it interesting how Humble Bundle keeps releasing their published games on GOG, and it doesn't even bother to release DRM-free versions through their own service. I guess that's a weird net-positive for us then. :)

Ok, what is it with 2019 and all those 10/10 games coming out? Its just april and this year is already getting better than lets say 2017. Fucking incredible year.

My wallet would very much appreciates releases of amazing games at slower rates thank you very much video game making world.

Jokes aside, this game is actually pretty amazing from what I've played so far, especially the many ways on how you progress. Its kinda like Factorio in terms of the way of how you progress fluently and theres always stuff you can do that keeps you busy. I wonder what the "combat update" will be like.

I say this game is very well worth the money if you enjoy Stardew Valley and SNES Zelda but expect more of a slow burn games that rewards patience (like factorio/stardew valley) with some nice balance of combat and peaceful "downtime" where you gather and build stuff.

One weird thing about this game is that Humble Bundle (a while ago) gave a pre-release demo of the game to their subscribers.

Normally, this whole Humble Monthly deal means full games, sometimes DRM-free, sometimes not, but generally full versions. But this time they gave people a pre-release demo, only available to paid subscribers.

So, basically a paid demo o_O

I'll probably buy the game eventually, since it looks like one of those games with lots of replayability (great value for money), like Minecraft, Factorio, Kerbal Space Program, or Stardew Valley, although for those games modding is also a big part of their replayability, so I'll have to see if Forager develops a modding community.

But I do feel like Humble Bundle was a bit... cheesy with such a business move. Sure, I get why they didn't give the full version (it would be giving an extra $20 game in addition to what they already gave at a ridiculous discount), and generally I can't complain about their pricing...

But I'm still a bit salty about getting a paid demo xD

I didn't even have to watch a full minute of gameplay on Youtube before deciding I need to have this game XD It looks extremely fun!
It might be a fun game for all I know, but the mixed resolution pixel art is a real turn off. Don't get me wrong, I like well done pixel art - this just isn't an example of that for me.

I really get the impression that Humble can't be bothered with DRM-free. At least once they have removed a DRM-free download from my account, leaving only a Steam key. Since I hadn't even uncovered the Steam key I was able to get a refund and eventually the game in question came to GOG.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I got the impression that the developers choose what is available on Humble (like on itch.io) without any filtering/testing/checks by anyone working for the store, so they can add or remove files at will.

Yeah, I think you're right that it's ultimately up to the publisher but I got the distinct impression from their support staff that they find the DRM-free stuff annoying and would rather not have to deal with it - hence a Humble published title that is DRM-free here not being DRM-free on their own store. They're not ideologically opposed to releasing the games DRM-free, they just don't care.

For those who waited for Mac and Linux versions of Forager, here is an interesting article on GamingOnLinux, where the dev is removing Linux support and won't support Mac either, *because of Apple*.
Well I understand dropping Mac because of Apple, but Linux?

Btw, in the gog's dedicated forum, Gekko_Dekko pointed a recent post from dev from the steam's dedicated forum, where he clearly states that gog wouldn't have Linux support for Forager anyway.
Funny he was even unaware of Linux games here on gog...

That says a little in the end.
