UPDATE: The first No Man's Sky update is now out!
It's a much-awaited bundle of fixes, as well as compatibility and performance improvements and you can grab it now via GOG Galaxy auto-updates, or with the newest offline installers.

<span class="bold">No Man's Sky</span> a massive science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Note that the game takes place in one persistent PC universe, shared across GOG and Steam.

In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid, those with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as any of us are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — gradually getting catalogued by explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.

The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means to stand your ground in a fight. Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal the greatest mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

Calibrate your suits for extreme insomnia, reach out and touch the <span class="bold">No Man's Sky</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com!

CMOT70: I wish people would stop blaming this games problems on being a "PC Port". I keep seeing that. My understanding is that this game has been in development for like, ever, and has always been for PC. It existed before the PS4 existed. If anything, the PS4 version is the Port. Without recent Sony $ it was probably never even going to get released. The PS4 version probably has better optimisation sure, though from what I've seen it's not perfect either. But console versions will always have better optimisation.
It is a port. It was developed primarily for PS4 with PC port in mind, yet badly implemented. On E3 2014 they even planned a timed exclusive release for PS4. The source engine might have been developed for PC but since SONY started financing it, NMS has been intended for PS4. It's like original Halo game - it was meant for PC but in the end it was completely overwritten for X-BOX and ported to PC years later.

Please ensure that your drivers are up to date, and that VC2013 C++ and VC2010 Service Pack 1 redistributables are installed. These are included with the installers, but it doesn't hurt to double check.

We're keeping an eye on this and will aim to get any patch or fixes out ASAP.

Also, the patch deployed on Steam is specifically a Steam related issue and does not affect our version.#Q&_^Q&Q#LINK:74#Q&_^Q&Q#

At present, they are not using the beta branch functionality on GOG Galaxy, but we're working with them on it and are aiming to have them online with this as soon as possible (can't guarantee when, but we're currently working towards tomorrow). We know how frustrating this is for some, so we're doing our best to resolve this as best we can. My apologies for the delays with this and for my delay in following up with you, BK - very hectic weekend as you can imagine :)

Additionally, you can be sure that if there is an official patch released, then it will be live on GOG very soon after. We have a team on standby during the entire weekend just for that. ;)
Well, won't be playing this game any time soon. I would have to build a completely new system to play this one.

OS Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965
RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 532MHz (8-8-8-20)
MB ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A87TD/USB3 (AM3)
Graphics 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZOTAC International)
Monitor ASUS VW266H (1920x1200@59Hz)
Audio NVIDIA High Definition Audio
For a living I manage a team of SW developer, and I m the ultimate responsible for the release quality.

There are certain times when you don't have resources to make a "proper" release (some functionalities are known to be broken or limitations).

BUT, release a SW in this crappy state is really a no-no: it has a detrimental impact on company name and credibility for future products.
In game market this is accepted or even the norm.

I can't believe how this market is reaching newer level of customer abuse.

Does your processor support the SSE4.1 instruction set? I tried googling your processor but I can't be sure of the results.

Instructions MMX (+), 3DNow! (+), SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4A, AMD 64, NX

No SSE4.1, just 4A. Pulled the instruction set from Speccy

Just found this at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE4

Intel SSE4 consists of 54 instructions. A subset consisting of 47 instructions, referred to as SSE4.1 in some Intel documentation, is available in Penryn. Additionally, SSE4.2, a second subset consisting of the 7 remaining instructions, is first available in Nehalem-based Core i7. Intel credits feedback from developers as playing an important role in the development of the instruction set.

Starting with Barcelona-based processors, AMD introduced the SSE4a instruction set, which has 4 SSE4 instructions and 4 new SSE instructions. These instructions are not found in Intel's processors supporting SSE4.1 and AMD processors only started supporting Intel's SSE4.1 and SSE4.2 (the full SSE4 instruction set) in the Bulldozer-based FX processors. With SSE4a the misaligned SSE feature was also introduced which meant unaligned load instructions were as fast as aligned versions on aligned addresses. It also allowed disabling the alignment check on non-load SSE operations accessing memory.[4] Intel later introduced similar speed improvements to unaligned SSE in their Nehalem processors, but did not introduce misaligned access by non-load SSE instructions until AVX

In theory, you may just need to upgrade the processor and the rest of the system should work on medium specs :)

Note, I am not telling you to go out and buy another processor or anything, just thinking out loud :)

Thank you for the message but unfortunately my MoBo will not take anything higher than the Phenom

Ahh I see. Then I am not sure what can be done as I am not sure how much work it would be to add SSE4a support to NMS...

I hate to send you there (;-P), but on Steam's forums the dev said that they rewrote some of the code and that the game's code only needs SSE 2 with the new patch (fun fact: The physics engine of the game needs SSE 3) :D So the old AMD Phenoms will be able to run the game with this patch.

I get that it's hectic this weekend, but thank you none the less for following up with me I do appreciate it. Even though I think this should have been communicated/taken care before release, I do appreciate you guys getting them up and running as quickly as possible. Even though I'm not having any major issues, at-least now I have something I can actually communicate to those wondering where the beta patch is. Thank you for the continued support.

After looking up my own CPU (a FX4100 Bulldozer) it is listed as having SSE4.1 (or at least most of the instructions) but the game still crashes...
Hello Games may need to recompile a new build or patch, but the clock is ticking....

I blame web developers and the Agile cult. Product quality has taken a nose dive wherever that methodology has become unquestioned dogma. QA is for stuffy old people; let's slap some stuff together, deem all the found issues out of scope and test in production!

To be fair, users shoulder a good bit of blame too because they've offered very little reaction to these bad behaviors which just validates that crappy developers and their soulless MBA overlords can get away with anything.

darkangelz: I was under the impression my pc met the min specs listed on the gamecard:

Minimum system requirements - Windows: 7 / 8 / 10 (64-bit only)
Processor: Core i3
Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics: NVidia GTX 480, AMD Radeon 7870
Hard Drive: 10 GB
Mouse, Keyboard

But seems it fails on:

Processor - phenom x6 1055t - lack of sse 4.1/4.2 support ? i only found listed upto sse3 and sse4a
graphics: gtx 960 - only lists supports for opengl 4.4 not 4.5

Are these shortcomings something the dev can patchfix?
see? this is a MAJOR problem. this poor guy thinks his processor doesnt meet the min. requirements when it absolutely does. minimum requirements are performance benchmarks not instruction handling benchmarks.

its not the users fault hg compiled their game wrong. its also not the users fault hg entirely omitted amd from their requirements list. no reasonable sane person would expect a user to be able to suss out that the min req of an i3 was some sort of secret code for sse4.1 compatibility.

its a disgrace the game was released like this...and its even MORE of a disgrace that hg is shifting the blame to users by pointing to the minimum requirements list.

What about your graphics card and support for OpenGL 4.5?
