UCrest: I don't understand why people ask for remasters, remakes or new ports of games that don't need it. Saints Row 2 is a video game that doesn't need a remake, remaster or a new port. And, as the industry currently stands, the truth is that far from seeing improvements you find, instead, additions that contribute nothing to aspects such as story or gameplay.
The performance of
Saints Row 2 is pretty problematic, even on the best PCs available (yes even a 4090 is no use) because the coding is the opposite of any optimization; the engine is running with near no compatibility while using almost no GPU resources and the CPU is sometimes becoming a load like a truck for near no results. Yet it is still a good game and i like to play it but i do not expect more than 40-60 FPS with many stuttering and spikes... simply how it is.
Even with those technical issues, it is still the better game compared to the "Re-Elected-censored version". The best is probably
Saints Row 3, this one is technically proper and with the exception of some multiplayer-issues overall a good game.
What they did with
Saints Row IV... no excuse. It is very buggy i heard and now even with censorship... this game is messed up now. I did not get me... i am glad. However,
Saints Row 2 and 3 i surely can recommend, despite some issues.
Magmarock: Will this affect those of us that already bought the uncensored version.
Yes it does. Saints row 2 is completely broken on PC
wolfsite: No it won't, this is the version Deep Silver had to make to comply with Australian law so it is seen as a separate title from the regular version sold here
There is no "regular version" sold here anymore, they apparently removed it. Not sure bug or on intention. Before someone asks: Yes on Steam it is removed as well, according to what i am able to detect, as i see ONLY the new wonderful version we should now enjoy. However, the new version, outside Australia region, should remain with the same content, albeit it will need a EGS account for multiplayer (which is probably the case for way to long already).
I surely always recommend "back up your games"; else, at some point you may lose it forever and it could happen way sooner than the gamers got in mind.
ReynardFox: No longer selling an older version of a game due to contractual obligation is one thing, but that shouldn't allow you to steal a game from my library.
Oh well... most of the times a update is missed but on that one, a update could have been missed and it would not hurt one bit; there are always exceptions.
