Zanzarah: The Hidden Portal is a RPG/FPS hybrid that is nothing like what you'd expect from that description (Borderlands, Fallout 3, etc.).

The game is mostly played in 3rd person, looks kind of like Fable, but the combat plays out in as an Arena FPS mode somewhat similar to 1x1 duels against AI in Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament. It's a very unique concept.

Zanzarah is in Daedalic Entertainment's catalog, a GOG friendly publisher with a good history here, so no impediment on that front.

Here's the wishlist entry https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/zanzarah_the_hidden_portal

Ha, totally forgot about this little title. I remember reading back in the day it came out it was sort of unique, but I don't remember exactly what the reviewer thought made it such)
Voted for it, hope it gets here.
Pretty good number of votes, at this point I have to assume technical or legal issues
I also want to see Zanzarah on GOG and I already voted for it a few years ago.

By the way, there is a Daedalic Entertainment representative on GOG:

Maybe you should try asking them directly?

It's already available on Steam for years.

It looks more like another "too niche" situation. ):

I doubt this is a "too niche" case. I know many people are skeptical of the wishlist - which I get, just look at Devotion or Hatred, I dislike those rejections - but I still believe GOG takes it into consideration when deciding what is "too niche"/what to accept or reject. Unless GOG thinks everyone who wants the game has already bought it on Steam, I think there's other stuff behind-the-scenes that is keeping it from appearing here. Reviews on Steam are "mixed" because, it appears, the game doesn't run for a chunk of people; it's still 67% approval which isn't bad, but if GOG can get it through their own testing process and there are no legal issues, I think they'd find it worthwhile to bring.

Personally I'm reminded of cases like Venetica, Drakensang, take your pick etc., which had lots of votes for years but took a long time to show up.

Also I've tried contacting Daedalic support about this multiple times, they won't respond iirc. But somebody else could try.

And I'm pretty sure it was rejected.

If the publisher is friendly to GOG and the game is already available on Steam or elsewhere (Zoom Platform, GamersGate) but not on GOG, there is a 90% chance that GOG has rejected this game.

Just like you, I used to believe in fairy tales about a "good store" and "evil publishers" who don't want to release their 20/30-year-old games without DRM (for some reason, only some of these games, not the entire catalog), but this year I contacted 1C Entertainment and found out that they already tried to bring some demanded games here (like A.I.M. series and 7.62 series), but GOG rejected those games.

But hey, why do we need all these games with hundreds of votes when we have masterpieces like BoNkIeS (it's not even presented in the community wishlist) and other stuff like that, right?

I don't believe GOG anymore, as I believed them 2 or 3 years ago. There have already been many cases (not only with 1C games or the original Rogue) that changed my mind.

Voted.
This, along with Darkened Sky and Drakan are the most anticipated GOG titles for me now.

I still don't think Zanzarah was rejected, but until we're able to get confirmation one way or the other, I do think we'll have to agree to disagree.
You have my sword. Voted. 3000 years ago ;)

When I wanted to find some info about devs, I found a pron company instead of it. Be careful ;)

Unless of course you had any hopes they'd eventually bring those German versions of Memoria and The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav here. Those aren't mainstays on the 2nd class citizens list for nothing. Not only did they not bring them here, they fought community members who asked them to do so tooth and nail (To behold one of the biggest train wrecks in gog's history, click here! - German language only, I'm afraid. But running it through google translate is well worth your time).
God I loved that game. And the music, can still remember it. <3 I also remember that the steam version when I bought it years back had some sort of errors making it unplayable for me.
Agreed, it should come here for others to try (as I'm done with this platform).
