Panaias: Hello there. So is "Unepic" a metroidvania-style game? Actually, when I saw that screenshot (https://images-4.gog.com/dd99f7e06790d3aa10f3542a787eda6d2336f6ba03f5340cb2bccb66df550b14.jpg) I decided not to investigate further :) this is why I don't play RPGs.
Dust isn't this bad, and it is more actiony than Unepic.

In particular, I note that in Dust you will never run into issues with inventory filling up, as inventory *can't* fill up. (There's probably a limit to the number of any given item you can carry, but I never encountered that limit during any of my playthroughs.) Hence, you really don't need to worry about inventory management in Dust.

Another that is unfortunately not on GOG is Environmental Station Alpha. It's very much a metroidvania, both in look and feel. Seems to be sequence breaking opportunities and the like if that's your bag. It's DRM-free on Humble.
Yeah, I have seen Environmental Station Alpha previously and thought about buying it over there, it seems to be nice! I have my eye on Elliot Quest too, also DRM-free on Humble. Has anyone played those?

Leroux: ... Aquaria! How could I forget Aquaria! Not on sale either, but totally worth it. (Even though I gave up on the final boss and technically never beat the game because of it, that wasn't my idea of fun, but I loved the rest of the game.)...
Oh yes, man I also forgot about that one :) It is a great metroidvania, exactly how I like them! (Don't feel bad, I also gave up close to the end because of the same reason. Nevertheless, the game is really really great.)
