Working Title:
“The Contract: A Witchers Tale”:

Genre:
ARPG, Open World, Single Player, Co-Op (optional), PVP (optional)

Concept:
At the start of the game you create your own Witcher. Your character underwent the mutations at the same time as Geralt. You begin the game by customizing your Witcher, choosing school, skills, appearance, etc. The game would have main quests that moved the story along, as well as contracts, and side quests. The side quests / contracts could be played in Co-Op. Contracts would be randomly generated based on hosting player level, location, skill, etc. Since the timeline runs parallel with “The Witcher Game Trilogy” fan favorites can be featured in this game (Side mission with Geralt as your companion, or a round of Gwent maybe :) . Last but not least, Arena mode where players can PVP their Witchers against waves of enemies, or each other.

Core Mechanics:
First and foremost this is a single player game, Co-Op is optional and would not change the story. Galaxy Crossplay is nice, but take the Larian Studios approach to multiplayer. Galaxy / Crossplay / Direct Connect / Split Screen / LAN. Don’t force Galaxy. In a sense forcing Galaxy for multiplayer is DRM.

Final thoughts:
Playing as my own custom Witcher seems so much more interesting, as opposed to playing as Ciri. This is my opinion. If CD Projekt Red chooses to run with this, give me "shout out" in the credits!!!!!
That sounds like a game i would definitely not buy :D
I'm betting we get a Ciri game, but I'd love one with a player made character. No randomly generated anything though, please. PvP arena is a cool idea, though I'd never use it.
Great, we need a Netflix adaptation of your concept! :P
A custom Witcher with no character to drive the story sounds boring. I mean, one of the main appeals of the Witcher games is Geralt and how the world reacts to this character, and how he reacts back. I'd much rather be able to choose a witcher from a preset group and have the world change and react to that specific character than a faceless "Sheppard" or such. Unless you go the KotOR route, but even then your character is a blank slate and too much of one at that.
I like this idea.
Too niche for full game imo, but as a mod for W3, who knows?

Roll out of the way puppies! Roll roll roll!
I'd honestly leave the Witcher be, it ended as it should have and more would just be overdoing it, imo.
I wouldn't mind the same kind of game The Witcher 3 is with monster hunters from different cultures (let's say, Miko priests from Japan for example, maybe even your classic Catholic Exorcist) with less empty space and more challenge though.
It's not like CD Projekt Red won't hit it out of the park again.

They originally impressed me with the PC build of Witcher 2, embarrassing Square of all companies at the time. I mean I NEVER thought a Western company would outdo a Japanese company with graphics then but wow.

I think Cyberpunk 2077 will be great and possibly shame others at the same time. In fact, if I was a foreign company I would hire CD Projekt Red to develop my game as I would save a bundle. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't W2 and 3 definitely cost a decent bit less then the average AAA console and PC game at the time?
As much I really look forward to someday playing Witcher 4, I have zero interest in playing Ciri as the character. The developers did a very good job ending the Witcher series, and if there were to be a Witcher 4, creating a customer character to develop over time, or even a new character at a point in time a bit beyond the last ending, would be very an insta-buy for me.

I am still hopeful that some of the announcements made by the studio, of having two releasees on track by 2021 will hold true. Cyberpunk 2077 is rumored to be out this year, with more rumors of an annoucement at E3 for the release date, and other rumors of a Witcher 4 for 2021. Whether any of that is true is speculation.

Edit: Fixed some typos.

I think your idea may be my favorite thing... ever.

Back to topic...

As a fan of the books and somewhat the games, I agree that I'd like to see the series move into character creation for the main character. While I like Ciri in the context of Geralt and Ciri, I'm lukewarm to playing solely as her in a new game.
