Interesting data, so gog is kind of plateauing.
Willn't be interesting to add the DLCs to this data ? I guess the number of DLC has hugely increased in recent years, wich in my opinion count.

the number of new good old games releases seems to be lowering fast.....
and DLC is increasing rapidly , also the number of new ( expensive) games is increasing rapidly aswell.

Personally i am not a DLC man, maybe its because DLC were not that common back in the old gaming days, and maybe its because it was called "Expansion packs" ...
Anyway, 90% of all that 'stuff' did not add much to the game itself, only added up to the amount of diskspace being taken on the harddrives....

The thing is: new games can be aquired anywhere, old good decent games (and drm free) are pretty hard to get, and i am referring to non fpp/3d games and tons of driving/ racing/flightsim games.... these are still released by tens of dozens... its the good old normal games ( jagged alliance, age of empires, red alert, c&C, baldurs, fallout( all the classic games NO remakes) that i loved playing on PC.

Lets hope the tide will turn and many old good games or good old , whatever will return again by the dozens, for now there are very few released and many have to little colors ( colonels bequest), i am old, but not ancient, my first pc games had a decent pallette not the yellow green purple and orange colors thatw ere used so much in the first pc games.

Its weird that EA refuses to launch the old redalert 1+2 and expansions and here at GOG drm free, i dont care for the 3d engine redalerts, or any 3d engine game remake....

Age of empires classic 1+2 (NO HD remake like steam has with intergrated steam and dumb achievements)
would be welcome aswell here DRM free... but this will never happen

EA is to tied to its DRM and own drm loaded games that need origin accounts.... i just want their old games no new stuff :D

I've noticed GOG has recently added some Ubisoft games, so any chance of bringing HAWX 1 & 2 plus the Open Skies DLC to GOG? Neither game is sold by Ubisoft any more, so I don't see why not. I would also like to see Settlers 7 Gold Edition.

https://www.gog.com/wishlist is where to cast your vote for what you would like to see on GOG. It allows GOG to gauge customer interest and reflect that information to publishers as part of their negotiations. Having said that, game stores can not just arbitrarily decide to sell games that the legal owner does not currenly have on the market, that is illegal. It requires the two companies coming together to negotiate and enter into contract with each other, and only then if the actual legal owner is even interested and all other legal matters can be resolved. Often games have a multitude of rights owners that have to agree before something can actually happen, which is why games like No One Lives Forever or the first Blood Omen are not available anywhere for example.

Cast your votes on the wishlist though, there are no guarantees but it helps the process.

it'sThursday again .. so a new (old?) game should arrive ? :D

I read some posts regarding the latest releases and i discovered it's almost mainly new games and or remake releases ( which are also new and should be considered as new).
I guess the good old games are slowly fading away ....

The good thing is that GoG can mean anything: Good Old Games but also Good Other Games, this will cover any game :old, new, remakes, i hope the old games will not fade away, but it might be possible cause new machines and windows won't be able to run the old games so the solution is to release new games.

Browing the new releases i found nothing that looks interesting to me, i noticed that if a game like cuphead is released or games like Hob, Ruiner or Elex (and many other games) dozens of other developers also release games like these, so instead of 4 or 5 new games you get 40 or 50 that are more of the same.

Anyway let's hope some old game shows up someday.

Just because you don't like or aren't interested in Cuphead, Hob, Ruiner or Elex, it doesn't mean they are bad or "common" ordinary games, "copy-paste of dozens of other games", like you so passive-aggressively implied. In fact, Cuphead and Hob are two of the best games I've played this year. Ruiner is pretty good, too, but I've been busy with the aforementioned two games (and Battle Chasers: Nightwar) to properly invest my time on it. Cuphead was a much needed return to form for us run-and-gun platformer fans, we haven't had a game like this in a *long* while, and it's really cool to finally get one so polished, so damn good looking and fluid and -- yes -- so freaking hard (fair, yes, but hard). As for Hob, it's an impressive achievement in exploration and a return to roots for action-adventures, with a brilliant mix of environmental puzzles, combat, storytelling (not even using dialogue and words, which is an amazing feat in itself) and promoting and rewarding world exploration and experimentation. As a huge Legend of Zelda fan, I even go as far as to say Hob feels more like Zelda, to me, than Breath of the Wild. As for Elex, I can't really say much about it, since it's not a genre of game I'm particularly interested in, but a whole lot of people are hyped for it and have been expecting it for a while, so I'm pretty sure at least *some* people will be glad they can buy it on GOG. And, yes, Ruiner might look like just your average twin stick shooter, to you, but I can assure you it's not, it really has its own identity and it definitely feels like it's doing its own thing, from what little I've played of it, so far.

There might be a lot of games on GOG that are "just like dozens of other games by 40 or 50 other developers", but the ones you pointed out are definitely *NOT* in this category, and you're being extremely unfair and biased towards new games just because you only want old "classics". You know what? A lot of old games, classics or otherwise, also feel like copy-paste of dozens of other old games. Some old games -- GASP! -- are even... BAD!

And don't worry, GOG still is the place to go for old games that work properly, and I think they'll keep trying to get a hold of as many old games as they can for as long as they stay in business. It's just not an easy a task as a lot of this forum's users seem to think.

Many games in the past were bad aswell, lots of them and there will always be bad games.

My view of games is the same as 40 years ago it has not changed and is not likely to change, my view is not biased because it has always been that way, and when the first online communities started and i took part ( i was new and wanted to see what the internet was) , i had exactly the same view, i tested some beta games for almost 2 years when Real Arcade stil exist, (it seems they merged / taken over by a larger (casual) games company).

Anyway i also gave tips about adding options to disable certain options in a game so more low end pc user could run the games ( increases sales cause more people are able to try and buy a game) and the few thousands of people that exist that had problems with certain motions /or visual effects would also be able to play the game by disabling the lighttning effects (some games were perfect but the full screen lightning messed it up for some limited players).


You are right about that, i merely replied the release of new good old games seemed to be lowering fast and seemed is not proving or showing things really lowering fast.
Anyway more information and statistics needed to show if things are really lowering.

Sorry for the late response, but if you want to buy these games, amazon.com offers both as digital downloads. The Open Skies DLC is available by itself or in a bundle with HAWX 2. Not as good as GOG, but it seems to be the only place one can buy these.

Amazon tends to group the reviews for the digital downloads together with reviews for the physical product, so it is unclear if the download is DRM-free or not. The digital download description said that it is DRM-free, while many of the reviews and customer questions state that a Uplay account is required.

I'm not sure why Amazon can still sell them direct through Amazon Digital Services LLC, even after they have been removed from other storefronts. I do know that it was the only place I could find GRAW 2 for sale, and the fact that it was DRM-free made it all the more appealing.

Until these games are sold on GOG this might be your best option. Hope this helps.

I've got the games I mentioned on Uplay which I'm more than happy with, now that I've managed to get them working, after 3 months talking with Ubisoft support. Better late than never, lol.

I agree, DRM free Gog versions would be nice though.

Does anyone know if there is a plan to release Nuclear Strike by EA games? It came out about 1997 or 1998. I have the cd but cannot get it to work on windows 8.

I finished the CD version this year, on Windows 10, so trying these steps might work for you. Install the latest patch from Patches Scrolls:
