Which games are keeping you company this weekend?

That was a pretty huge Summer Sale, guys! With free games being given out left and right, and hundreds of deals up for grabs, everybody emerged with well-stocked libraries, big smiles, and pleasant dilemmas.

Like: shall I play the magnificent Spelunky that I got for free or should I begin my fourth playthrough of VtM: Bloodlines now that I got it DRM-free? Is it finally time to cash in my accumulated 2-month work leave and tackle The Witcher 3 + Expansions? Perhaps I should go for a quick Shadowrun instead, see where that takes me.

So many questions. But your answers are all that matter!
Will you be playing any of the game(s) you snagged during the Summer Sale? Or are you saving your backlog for a rainy day?

Go on, share your Weekend Playlists with us. They can include single-player games, multiplayer games, console exclusives, anything - we are not judging. In fact, we are sharing too!

Looking for some additional inspiration? The GOG.com releases of the week provide plenty:

- You can search for the remains of your pre-apocalyptic life in Deadlight: Director's Cut.

- You can arm yourself with both Artbook and Soundtrack and dive right back into the lovely world of Stories: The Path of Destinies.
- You can try to reconcile red robots with hairy monsters while platforming On Rusty Trails.
- You can cut your shape into the fabric of the Old West with your trusty GUN™.
- You can expand your Solar Empire by looking for new opportunities in the Outlaw Sectors.
- You can protect and nurture The Little Ones amidst the brutality of war.
- You and your friend can praise a common god for the good of the community in Thea: The Awakening.

Cracking into some HoMM 1 - Surprisingly addictive :O

andysheets1975: Just started Technobabylon. Very impressive so far. If it keeps up like this, I'll have trouble deciding if it or Primordia is my favorite Wadjet Eye game.
Technobabylon is awesome. I haven't finished Primordia yet, due to a regrettable lost saves situation, but Technobabylon is definitely the most ambitious and complex of the two.

GR00T: My weekend gaming is going to be Dragon Age: Inquisition. [..]. I must say it's a crapton better than DA2 and I'm very pleasantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying it.
This bad boy has been on my short list for a long while now but The Witcher 3 and limited time have been getting in the way. Also the comments of people who found it a bit too grindy and with a blah supporting cast :/ Is that really the case?

For me it's Shadow of Mordor this weekend. Am already about 8-9 hours in and having a good time slaying orcs and uruks. However, the constant respawning and the ho-hum story somehow make the world seem more like an sandbox of spectacular murder and less like a real place.

bad_fur_day1: I'm becoming a better wizard in Sacrifice, I'm up to mission 5 with the god James.

hyperagathon: Ah, glad to see it's going well. I actually reinstalled it after our previous exchange, but it took so much fiddling to make it work properly that I had very little energy left to actually play the game (for fellow WINE users, use a clean prefix / remove the overrides). I did a couple of Pyro missions (I never liked Pyro, so ~15 years ago I never even tried), it was manageable, even though the game is both more difficult and more complex than what I remember.
After finishing the WItcher 3 (yes!), it's a rare treat for me (recommended by a good GOG friend), which I didn't see coming:

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir

It's...amazing...

ShadowWulfe: There's a PC release? I remember reading about it in a mag at least 7 years ago.
It's the remake of the PS2 version for the PS4 / Vita!

GR00T: *Incredibly detailed Dragon Age: Inquisition review*
Wow, that's a lot of information, thanks for sparing the time!
Looks like a really expansive, rich game - I definitely need to push it further up on my to-play list and get started. It's been a long time since I played DA 2 and my memories of it are a bit blurry. I certainly liked it more than most people did, but it had plenty of glaring issues which were hard to overlook. Glad that Inquisition is such a vast improvement.

My status report: after an intense two-day marathon that nearly turned my graphics card to ash, I finished the main campaign of Shadow of Mordor and I must say I ended up liking it much more than I expected. Those who describe it as "Batman: Arkham meets Assassin's Creed in Middle Earth" are not far off, but the nemesis system and the smooth overall presentation make it stand on its own. It can get slightly repetitive after a while, but a highly recommended game overall.

Sarasa: But with the weather we have had here this week and WE (shower/rain/thunder/sun), I wasn't in a good mood to play any games -_-
Really?

For me, rain and thunder ARE the best for gaming :)

andysheets1975: Not to seem disrespectful but I figure if the Kacho can overcome this game in one day, I don't have any excuses :)
avatar
vicklemos: Phew, thought I was the only one having troubles with that. I mean, the kid me did this with almost zero hassles and had a couple of issues with water based levels only back in 94; and Arino-san... jeez so many good memories with his early episodes.
Thanks to him I found out about some classics I dearly love nowadays such as Konami Wai-Wai World (never been a famicom aficionado) and some more ;)

vicklemos: Say that to a dude I used to know who brought his brand new ps3 home -he preordered it I guess- on day one and the whole thing some kinda EXPLODED (along with the camera he was filming the 'unboxing + his pc, since he was streaming the whole thing) because of heavy rain and lightining! :P
Wow...did the PS3 (or anything else) survive?

Also, that was a super confusing video...

vicklemos: Nah, nothing survived and zero chance of repair since, well, it was a pretty new thing back then. Lotsa money down the drain in a fraction of a second.
The video?! :P
Guess I'm not the only one who watches these Hydraulic Press ones just to check the dude sayin' EXPLODED ;D
Sorry to hear!
