Why do most gog games have no achievements?

I always buy steam, steam games have achievements, cards ... But in gog the majority of games have no achievements
Achievements is a new thing for GOG and it's very few old games have them, also most games on here were developed before achievements were a thing.
Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but I think newer games (I don't know what percentage) are missing achievements because devs don't want to spend time implementing them (since it's evidently not a simple job bringing them from Steam to Galaxy), since GOG is almost always brings in far fewer sales than Steam.

Or hopeful? You seem to have become the new naysayer who always tries to discourage people from buying anything from GOG.
I always wonder why those young gamers rely heavily on achievements.
Good games do not need achievements.
Bad games will not become any better after they provide achievements.
In some games I set up goals for myself, things I want to have done. That is enough.

Gog does need achievement if they want to compete with steam in the future. When the user buys a game and there are different versions the user will buy the one with the most features

- GOG games are oldies. They didn't thought about achievements then.
- GOG gamers may be oldies too. They may not like achievements much.
- GOG is smaller and cannot afford to support achievements. This was true before Galaxy (say pre 2015). So only newer games can have achievements or older games need to be retrofitted which may be expensive.
- Achievements aren't that interesting feature anyway ... say some people.
- Some notable GOG games have achievements and they are very popular. (For the unpopular games anyway not many people care if they have achievements or not.)
- I'm convinced that more and more GOG games will have achievements.

I for example, am perfectly fine with achievements as long as they are purely optional and can be turned off easily. However, I'm also fine with not having them.

Winning a game is one possible achievement that was always there. Only it wasn't called an achievement. Maybe what early games lacked was just the term. But in principle every game has at least one "achievement", even though it's not called like this.

Achievements, goals, wins, ... naming doesn't really matter much.

Achievements? Is that a word for unneded time wasting in a game with different goals that bring nothing into the game than some badge unlocked that says you got that one.
Proper achievements that i know were only in stalker call of pripyat(haven't played many newer games) where you actually got rewarded in game by reciving something ingame like as giving the player wider choices at equipment with traders, better artifacts spawn from anomaly fields, even remember getting medic packs rewarded or something for doing a mission, those were good for the game if you did those achievements.

Agreed, but you have to add that it must be the most interesting features for the user who will buy the game. So if you would be interested in DRM free games but not in achievements you wouldn't care much. However, some people care about achievements and making them optional certainly doesn't hurt. I think too that in the future many games on GOG will have achievements.

I think GOG does foremost need more AAA games if it wants to compete with Steam.
high rated
Y'know, we can complain as much as we want about how stupid achievements are or aren't, but that doesn't really change the fact that they tend to help sales.
No achievements should be a selling point.

What! Noooo! How can I play my games without some sort of life affirming achievements to twatter out to all my friends on fecking idiots book. Disaster!
Here are all games with GOG achievements.
Unfortunately, this list isn't complete. There are several games with ingame achievements, like Terraria, Dust, or Defender's Quest, that aren't on that list. I think that may only list ones with Galaxy integration.
