GOG any chance of getting offering the old EA Janes simulations?
I'd say the chances are pretty slim due to:

- Licenses involving other companies such as sport teams, car brands and the like seem to be very difficult to deal with.
- Flight sims aren't very popular here on GOG (or anywhere else probably).

Of course this is all speculation on my part and I could be totally wrong (I wish I was).

With (1) you're absolutely right. It isn't speculation.

(2) is utter crap. "Just sayin'" as the common net parlance seems to be these days. There are enough people that love flight sims.
The rights to the Jane's Sim games are split I think, for instance DotEmu sells 688(I) Hunter Killer, and lists the publisher as Strategy First.

My (2) comment was motivated by several "WTF GOG flightsims suck" comments in the recent Apache Longbow release thread, and the (apparently common) perception that it is a niche genre. I really hope your definition of "enough" is the same as GOG's because I love flight sims (although I suck at them). Just sayin'... :p
No panic. All EA classics arrive to GOG in time. My prefer Dune series.
I preferred to play European Air War over the Jane series of games.

Never going to happen. EA no longer has any hold on the Dune license, and the idiotic Herbert family aren't giving that to anybody.
No, in fact Mr. GOG is going to specifically buy up all the worldwide distribution right so as to keep you from legally acquiring a working copy.
surely EA must have the right to re-release their own games...?! if they no longer have the rights to the Jane's brand, they could simply remove the name from the games' titles. so instead of calling the game "Jane's AH-64D Longbow" they could simply re-release it as "AH-64D Longbow", and nobody would mind.

Bohemia have done something similar with Operation Flashpoint.

Very bad news :( Thanks for information.

With Apache Longbow here now, I am just really, really hoping for Jane's Longbow II.

I was never any good at it, but I loved it. :)

I still have my paper manual, I just want a version that will run on Win7x64.

You're assuming that there's only 1 EA, the reality is that it's in essence multiple different companies with different territories. Unless they get the various divisions to sign off, there will be no release.

Honestly, I wish Mr. Gog would lock these topics because they serve no purpose and just clutter up the forum.
