Jade Empire was probably Bioware's most dumbed down RPG and that came out before EA bought them. (BTW I love Jade Empire and probalby my favorite Bioware game but that is mainly I liked the Asian fantasy setting.)

Dragon Age 2 was made for consoles, the combat was improved vastly compared to the first one when it came to interface and ability to move your party members for tactic wise on consoles. This focus probably made the PC version worse though. The story was quite a bit worse compared to the first one. The chapter 2 was sweet with Arishock and the foucs on the Quanari. The first Chapter was just side quest after side quests. The third chapter could have been good, but making you fight both bosses was lame, it should have been one or the other depending on what side you choose. Also, didn't like how they retconned the choices you can make in the first one.

The worst thing was the repetitive areas/maps. Actually, I think one thing Bioware should have done was have the game have randomized maps like Torchlight or Diablo. That way they could keep on using the same textures and art for the areas like they did but at least the maps would have felt more diverse.

The City of Kirkwall was dull. I mean I'm playing the first witcher now and even though it revolves around a single area, the city just feels so much more alive due to people walking around, finding shelter in the rain, and the general art of the area.

Any news on whether that trainwreck called Mike Laidlaw is still going to be around for DA 3, or is his job hopefully one of those that they are hiring for? :p

Maybe Mike can go back to working on Sonic the Hedgehog games. RPGs are obviously not his area.
