Black and White is a game released by Lionhead Studios in 2001. Over the years i've played the game many times, because in my opinion it's a really great game, one of the best actually. The game was hyped and was pretty popular back in the day, yet in our days it seems like no one ever talks about it, i never see it on lists of innovative games or best games and this makes me angry. This is why i created this post, so maybe a few of you fellows who haven't had the pleasure of playing it, will give it a shot. Also, for those of you who played the game, please post a fun memory of it, or anything at all relating with the game so that we can raise awareness of this game that seems forgotten in these harsh times. Thank you !
Oooh, we've got this notion that we'd quite like to sail the ocean, so we're building a big boat to leave here for good!
That would be so awesome if GoG added Black & White to their list of games. The original is quite buggy, even with the updates. Would be great to have it fixed up and able to run on today's PCs.

We're not keen on sinking
So we're all sitting here a thinking
'Cause we built it too big and we've run out of wood.

Well, I don't know if you realize it or not, but GOG doesn't have source code access. They certainly wouldn't release the game unless it was running as good as it did back in the day on all their test machines, but it won't be "fixed up" aside from running on today's machines.

HOWEVER, with EA on board, hopefully this will appear on here soon. When it comes, it will be the highest game wish completed thus far. (6300 votes) I actually still own the 2-disc version, but never bothered to get very far. :P

I haven't played it in a long time :P
thought of seeing if my retail copy still works the other week - but then remembered the infuriation of the zen-monk type you have to follow around a mountain trail.

GAAArrgh!

LOVED the game until that point! heheh.
Black and White: Lots of fun, kind of imbalanced difficulty. This is largely because your creature quickly becomes a much needed tool to progress through the game, but the spells you need it to learn like both shields are hard to teach and harder to come by. Land 3 doesn't give you much opportunity with your pet though as you spend the whole of the map trying to progress to the end for your creature, and that means trying your damnedest for massive amounts of time to skip from town to town despite such a limited reach of influence between each one. And land 4 just doesn't give you much chance, you're thrown into a situation you won't be ready for, and this is where I would break down or give up because I couldn't do anything to keep up.
I remember this game. Bought the second at release and its still in its shrink wrap
Received this game as a Christmas present and I really tried to like it (back then games were usually expensive, so I tended to be more patient). I remember reviews praising the IA as it was a groundbreaking achievement, but I never saw that wonderful AI in action. I never understood the hype; I can't say I am surprised it's been mostly forgotten.

Sorry, were you talking about B/W...or every other Peter Molyneaux game there ? :)
I got this game years ago but could never get it to run, and nowadays I can't find the disk for it either.

Sad times.
