I just want to see the interrogation scenes:
"It was you what done it, admit it!"
I can't spell his name right to save my life, but it's a real shame Peter Postlethwaite passed away (the badass hunter dude from Jurassic Park 2), because Terry Pratchett said he was Vimes. And he would have absolutely been the most perfect fit.

I could see this working. I would rather see an adaptation of one of the watch books (probably Guards Guards for preference) into a one off TV show, but this could work.

It has to be tonally correct. If it's going to be a weekly show, then it needs to be a parody of weekly cop dramas, which is rather different from the parody in the books.

Until further notice, I'm going to be cautiously optimistic.

eyeball226: But the Colour of Magic was awful. Mainly because of David Jason.

serpantino: I agree with that. It should have been Eric Idle as he voiced Rincewind in the games and I find it hard to imagine anyone else. David Jason just seemed too squat and elderly for Rincewind, plus he'd already played Albert in The Hog Father.
I don't like his characterisation of Rincewind either actually...
Bleeding Brits...

I'm just lucky to have BBC America for Doctor Who. But I'll never get to see those Discworld special.
As far as I understand it they're aiming to make new stories, not based on an existing story, which would be good considering they can at least focus on making screenplays rather than an adaption which will always be inferior considering the source material.

That said, writing and casting is horribly important to get right.

That said, Samuel Jackson as Samuel Vimes might be fun. He does do angry quite well, though I'm not sure it's Vimes angry, it'd still be an entertaining thing to watch.

Okay so I can only think of this as maybe good if what it turns out to be is a parody/homage

o_O "There M***erf**king Vampires in my watch?" - No.

Luisfius: The adaptation for Hogfather wasn't bad.

Anyway, this seems a bad idea...
Didn't read either books.. If I want humour I read Robert Rankin, but the shows were quite good from my point of view.

Edit.. didn't check the date.

Well for me more Pratchett is alway good in any case. Whether this will be good or bad I might still watch it sooner or later. By the way, I found "Hogfather" to be NOT so bad really. I even re-watch it every now and than.:)
Ops, this is a dead thread. Sorry.
