Looks like a Diablo clone probably? The article mentions the pure action console spin-off.

Wow, its like BG II: Arcade Edition.
I bet it will be console exclusive.
even though I love D&D rules, this game just doesn't look interesting... at all :-/
After seeing the clip I think the game will have more in common with BG:Dark Alliance than Diablo, which probably means "active" block and less randomized loot.

Well, basically it will be a D&D game for non-D&D players.

Man, I was so thrilled when I saw the "Dungeons & Dragons" part. Then this feeling abruptly disappeared.
I look forward to the internet dubbing this game D&D: DD.

It'll become DD, and be pronounced "diddy".

I hope it is, as then I cannot be tempted to buy it in any way due to D&D loyalty.
Dude, is it only me who thinks this just may be awesome?

I mean, it looks like Gauntlet x Dungeons & Dragons x Diablo. With online multiplayer option? Now that would be fucking cool.

*shrugs* Just my 2.8c

My current pessimism is based almost solely on the Dark Alliance comparison. If it ends up being a real D&D game then I will get interested.
Based on that incredibly short amount of actual combat footage (which looked like all results, I didn't see anything to indicate commands were issued during the fighting), this could be as much a twitchy fragfest as Alien Swarm, a balanced tactical and action affair or as tactical as Dragon Age, I suggest we keep our disappointment or frothing outrage until we see some real gameplay footage that lasts for more than 5 seconds on screen. At least give it the chance to disappoint us based on the game rather than shitty video editing (surely they've all heard that we want to see how the game actually plays rather than just seeing flashes of the graphics amidst a field of buzzwords).

Also, why the hell am I never the one CONTROLLING the skeletal horde? I always have to fight them rather than use them to cut a glorious swath of destruction on my path of world domination

Not the D&D i would really like to see but i think if it is done well it could be a solid, enjoyable arpg with the bonus of being wrapped up in a D&D world. I would enjoy kicking ass - especially co-op - within D&D lore. If it's the tedious bore that was DA then no i won't bother.
Hmm if you want to control a skeletal horde, Diablo 2's necromancer is about your only outlet.
Even then it's not much of a horde.

I'd agree that actually being the ancient evil awakening would make a nice change of pace. I might buy a game just for that, no matter how bad it was.

Its a platoon at best. The only real outlet for an undead horde is Warhammer (for which I naturally have an undead horde)
