grynn: Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, 2 key strokes. But in your way, first you need to Ctrl+Alt+Del to see task manager, click processes tab, then select the prosess and click end process. :D
Sure it's two keystrokes, but then you have to wait for the files to be copied. For any game over 600mb, it's faster just to end the process.
But I have a SATA3 SSD! I was joking btw :p

Woolytoes: Nice bundle! But as long GG requires an internet connection for installing the games, they can keep it!

SirPrimalform: Just checking, but you know that it's trivially easy to bypass that, right? You can make fully DRM-free backups (of the games listed as DRM-free) by simply waiting for the downloader to start the installer and then using the task manager to kill the downloader process while the installer is still running. Then install the game or quit the installer (it doesn't matter) and the DRM-free install files will be sitting in the "GamersGate temporary files" ready to be backed up however you want.
WHAT? You are kidding, right? If that is so then why they are using such a stupid system to scare off customers? They should remove that crap if it is useless anyway.

You don't even need task manager.
Just wait until the downlaod has finished & the game installer starts.
Then BEFORE doing anything with the installer (such as clicking "I agree" to the eula, choosing an install directory, or anything) copy the gamersgate temp directory to a safe location.

They use it to confirm that you purchased the game.

I think it's to reassure the developers. After all, GOG-style blatently true DRM-free seems to be viewed as an invitation for piracy by some devs (and some customers according to some odd questions asked here on the forum occasionally).

what kind of customer would let himself or herself get scared off by that?!?

next you'll complain that you need an internet connection to download the games...
Does anyone know how Kenshi handle updates?

Whitewraith: Does anyone know how Kenshi handle updates?
Most of the time it's through the automatic patch launcher, but for particularly large updates (like the most recent one) you need to redownload the installer from IndieDB and install over your old version.

Fred_DM: does that mean you can't actually play Wanderlust offline/disconnected from the internet?
Just to confirm, you can't play it without an internet connection. The game turns back into a demo if you can't log in.

Quote: Gamersgate FAQ:
"Can I download the game on my office PC and install it on my home PC which does not have an Internet connection?

No, you cannot. Internet connection is required to install games"

For me an absolute NO GO! It tells me that there is some kind of stupid DRM involved. Funny thing, it is indeed stupid and useless.

Downloading and Installing are two complete different pair off boots. Like Apples and Pears, ya know?

only in theory. nowadays it's common that you need an internet connection to install games, even physical copies.

but this is all besides the point because GamersGate downloads can easily be backed up DRM-free. no point in arguing about theoretical issues when there are practical solutions.

SirCabbage: Black Market is a great game for anyone who loves space trading games, its fun and amusing, so if I didnt already own it I may have picked it up just for that.
Is there a difference to the version I can download directly from the developers fro free?

As mentioned in this thread, there apparently is a level cap in the free version, which prevents you from getting the higher-level equipment.
