So I built a new Gaming PC and I got an ASUS GeForce GT 630 2GB GDDR3 video card. It came with a program called GPU Tweak to overclock the card. GPU Tweak has a maximum clock of 910 for the core and 2000 for the memory (1000 for each module). The reason why I made this post is because I actually managed to reach the maximum clocks for both the core and the memory and ran tests with MSI Kombuster (which passed just fine, apparently) and under load the GPU seems to cap out at 73 degrees centigrade with the fan at 100% speed (constant+max).

So, is 73 centigrade and a core clock of 910 and a mem clock of 2000 safe? That's my question. =)

Seems to be a little high to me. I think most chips operate safely up to about 80 degrees, but I wouldn't push that, or even try to go near it.

With such a card, is there any need to really push it that hard?

Well I mean, I did some UNiGiNE benching and got an extra 5-10 FPS on ultra/max/16AF/8AA settings so yeah, it seems worth it to me.. =)

It's not as bad of a card as you might be thinking it is, I mean sure it's no TITAN... but it does really well for what it is.. I don't know if you ever played Miasmata but that game runs at about 38-49 FPS on AVG with the card OC'd and only 30 AVG when not OC'd.. so.. =/

I don't see any artifacts when burning the card in for about 10 minutes, so... I'm really not sure whether to lower the clocks or leave them at max

I'm not expert, or even advanced on overclocking, so if you're confident in that then go ahead, but as I said, 80 degrees is the nasty point for most chips, and you're getting close. I suppose it depends how much that card is worth to you.

I dropped the clocks by 10 so I'll see how that works for a day or 2, if it gets a bit too hot i'll go down another 15. Thanks for the input though, I really do appreciate it!
