Hello all, just want some quick advice on how well people think my computer could run TW2 (well, I know how well it can run it (not very), I'm looking at upgrading and want people's opinions.
I have a q6600 CPU which I think will run the game just fine and even if it won't I am not upgrading it.
I have 2 gig of DDR2 800Mhz ram, I will upgrade this to 4gig of DDR2 800mhz ram.
Do people think 4gig is fine or should I up it to 8gig?

I have one Nvidia 9600 GT OC (BFG), I was thinking of getting a 2nd and setting it up in SLI. But I can't find a single one for sale anywhere.
What card do you think would be best to SLI the BFG 9600 GT OC? Another 9600 OC or can I use another card model?
Or alternatively, are there any fairly cheap, good cards out there which SLI together well?

Provided you don't have a bunch of crap running in the background, it should run with 2. However you will be better off with 4. With DDR2 not being in production anymore, I don't know if it would be worth the investment to buy 8 gigs of it or not.

SLI is more prone to driver bugs than a single GPU. I would say look over the best mid range cards for the money now a days and pick one of them instead. I don't know offhand what that would be as my desktop is still running a Radeon 5770. Which runs Witcher 2 fine. Its not maxed out, but the game looks nice and is playable.
Witcher 2 is still one of the most graphically demanding games out there. I don't know how well it scales down, but I really hope you're used to low framerates as even my old computer with a GTX 260, 4GB RAM and a quad core processor wasn't all that smooth.

Simplest upgrade would be going to 4gigs of ram and switching to at least a newer mid range video card for sure. Should be playable then.

Use the following link : http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

It will give you an idea of performance and price range, and you can use that to narrow it down.

Nice site, thanks for that. Will make comparisons alot easier.
There are graphic cards for $4.000 dollars?! o.O

I guess you learn something new every day.

If you're talking about Quadro and FirePro cards, those are production cards used for high-end 3D video modelling and graphic design. Consumer gaming cards usually don't run past a thousand dollars each.

Oh, ok. Anyway, even $1.000 seems a LOT to me, but then again, I never really had a good graphic card. :(

Why are the 4,000 dollar GPUs rated lower than the 400 dollar GPUs?

Some of the pricing can be a bit wierd, especially when you are looking at specialized CPU and GPU's.

Those expensive 4,000 dollar GPU's are specifically for high end graphic design/modeling. They suck at gaming but they are exceptionally great at rendering models and what not. Also because its related to a specialty they can charge more for them=)

On the site i provided I prefer to narrow it down by looking at price per performance. It gives a breakdown of your best bang for your buck but you then need to compare them further to make sure the video card meets your needs. Price, performance, etc.

After you find a few selections you like then maybe go check reviews on them at maybe Tom's Hardware, etc, and see what you think. Also check newegg, amazon at user reviews, and eventually you will find the perfect card for you at the price you are looking to spend.

The benchmark they using is probably for gaming, so it rank lower than the other gpu's which are for gaming. The 4k card is used for rendering 3d's, cad's and graphic workstations. It is not suitable for gaming, that's why my gpu's (ranked 16) is ranked higher than this card (rank 21).
