I think GOG is accidentally short-changing themselves with the Browse function. When you click one of the genre tabs in the Browse function (e.g. Strategy) the URL is www.gog.com/catalogue/strategy but this list does not contain all the strategy games. However, if you visit a gamecard and pick the keyword "Strategy" from the genre description, the URL is www.gog.com/catalogue?search=strategy and you get a different list with MANY more games!

Try it with Warlords Battlecry. If all you ever did was browse GOG from the "Browse all games" button on the home page (just above the red ribbon & bow) you wouldn't know GOG even sold Warlords Battlecry. A seasoned GOGer might know to do this, but a GOG newbie just browsing the genres is going to be missing out on some great games!

I noticed a similar or perhaps related issue. When I was looking at ArmA, I clicked on Bohemia Interactive Studio (the publisher) to see what other games they made. Nothing shows up in the games list and the search function says the same, but if I find Bohemia Interactive Studio in the filter's drop-down menu, their games appear.
Warlords Battlecry shows up for me and so do all the other games.
Maybe it's loading properly for you?

Can you please try this... look at the very top of the page on GOG's home screen, and hover your mouse (don't click) over the pulldown that says "Browse Games" and then when the menu drops down, choose "Strategy".

By default the list will be sorted "by bestselling". Please change this to "by title". Then look down at the bottom of the page. On both Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 10, the list skips from "UPLINK: HACKER ELITE" to "WORMS UNITED". All three Warlords Battlecry games are missing from this list. Can you try that and see what you get?

I can also confirm the games are missing from the HTML Source on my browser. Also I'm in the midwest United States. Please report where you are browsing from. Different servers (US vs overseas) may also make a difference.

Thanks for your help!
maybe since the first listed genre is "roleplaying"? they show up under the roleplaying category

Confirmed the issue from the east coast of the US (New York, in case that makes a difference). I am glad you noticed, who knows what games I've missed when I look at Role-Playing or Mac games categories.

It's exactly the same for me and I'm in Germany.

I think I goofed and looked under role playing before because the Warlords games show up there but not under strategy.
I think if you check out all the genres, you'll find all of the the games, but none of them appears in more than one category and some seem oddly categorized. This results for example in Alien Shooter being listed only in the Shooter category, while Alien Shooter 2 is only in the Action category (I'm not familiar with the games and can't say if there is a logical reason to it, but from an outward perspective it seems weird).

Very good observation. It looks like a game that spans "multiple genres", such as Haegemonia Gold, will be listed as "genre: strategy / real-time / sci-fi" on its game page. If you click on the link for "strategy" (notice it's the first word in the list), GOG will search using this URL...

www.gog.com/catalogue/strategy

which does not show the Warlords Battlecry games, and many other strategy games will also be missing. But if you go to the Warlords Battlecry game page you'll see the genre listed as "genre: rpg / strategy / fantasy". Notice that this time, "strategy" is not the first genre, but the 2nd. If you click on "strategy" here, the search URL will be:

www.gog.com/catalogue?search=strategy

... which is a MUCH MORE THOROUGH search, and now you'll see all the games categorized with the word "strategy". It looks like GOG always uses this thorough search if the genre is NOT THE FIRST ONE LISTED.

So somehow, GOG knows how to search thoroughly by genre, but chooses not to do so in the one place that probably matters most (e.g. to newcomers)... in the Browse function. If they would use that same URL for the Browse function, I think it would "fix" the problem of missing games while browsing.

They may be doing this on purpose, based on the way they store the games in their database. The "easier" search is probably more efficient because they probably assign every game a "single main genre" which is easy/fast to search. But for multi-genre games, they'll have to search maybe another description field that could have many words in it, which may be a more costly (time) search.
