I might give this a try. HG:L was the last game I bought on release day. It was a buggy mess and crashed regularly. Had to create an account to get the patches then couldn't download the patches. Got it running but it was still a mess so I uninstalled it. Getting SecuRom off my system added insult to injury . . .= \
But . . . several months after Flagship shut down I reinstalled the game, downloaded / installed the now freely available patches, downloaded an exe and played thru without any noticeable problems in single player. I especially enjoyed the sniper rifle and occasionally . . . go in and play a few levels.
I wonder if the cracked exe will work online, it's not worth putting SecuRom back on my system . . . =)
Edit: lol, just checked, I only have the SP exe anyway so . . .
