Alan Wake, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and Trine--each 75% off!

Did you know that Santa's North Pole workshop is more than just a toy factory? It's a scientific facility dedicated to research in the field of fun and entertainment. The so called "elves", are actually scholars, and--unsurprisingly--some of them would prefer a little bit less old-fashioned uniforms. You know, without the pointy shoes. Those are the ones that don't stick around after they graduate. Instead, they move a little bit south and settle down in Scandinavia, where they join game development studios. Wanna see what they do in there? Here's some [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/scandinavian_games]Scandinavian Games.

Alan Wake is an action thriller in which a burned-out author of best-selling fiction battles darkness and balances on the edge of sanity in order to save the love of his life, taken by the mysterious forces hiding in the night. It's a fascinating story that will keep you on the edge of your chair, while it provides many moments of horror, and challenges you with memorable fight sequences. Today's price: $7.49!

You'll find even more of that in Alan Wake's American Nightmare, that continues the story of Mr. Wake, as he takes on the American urban legends and common fears, that begin to come to life, fueled by the writer's mysterious dark adversary. New game modes, new scary foes, new weapons, and even more cultural references--all this and more for only $3.75!

Here's one for the fans of gritty hard Sci-Fi (and Vin Diesel). The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a stealth/RPG/brawler testosterone-trip of a game, starring the memorable anti-hero of Pitch Black, the cat-eyed Riddick. The game also includes a refurbished edition of his critically acclaimed previous adventure, Escape from Butcher's Bay. All that badassitude for just $3.75!

If you prefer something less dark and brutal, and more colorful and cheerful, is right up your alley! This gorgeous platformer/physics puzzler, features three unique characters, each with a special set of abilities. A sneaky bow-wielding thief, a wizard with telekinetic powers, and a strong knight in heavy armor--all of them forced to undertake a dangerous quest. Considered the contemporary platforming revelation, [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/trine]Trine is only $2.49 for the next 24 hours!

Any other day you would spend about $70 on these Scandinavian Games. Today, however, you can get each of them 75% off--that means, should you choose to grab the whole package, you'll only pay a little above $17! What to do with over $50 you just saved? Most of the games from our catalog are currently up to 50% off, so it might be a good time to get some titles off that wishlist!

Happy holidays!

Boilpoint: I've had Riddick on my Steam wishlist for a while (before I knew about gog), and always had concerns when I saw this:

Notice: After activating the game for a third time TAGES will start a 30-day timer. After 30 days you will get that activation back up to 3 total activations.

But now it's onsale for less than I've ever seen it on Steam, and without DRM? SOLD
Same here, on steam it costs 20 Euros, on sale it might go -75% so about 5 euro. GoG for 3,74$ ?? and no DRM? Instabuy.
Every single promo seems to be better than the previous one.
Also this is the first one ever, I think, when I own the whole promo catalog already :)

Viperine: You guys do know that Finland isn't a part of Scandinavia, right?

That means 3 out of 4 games in the "Scandinavian Games" pack aren't from Scandinavia.

I'd probably be a little offended if I were one of the devs.

Edit: timppu beat me to it.

JaqFrost: In English, 'Scandinavia' covers all the Nordic countries. (It's only linguistically that Finland isn't part of the Scandinavian branch of the Germanic languages.) So English differs from how the Nordic countries would internally label themselves in their respective languages.
Yep, Finland has always been in Scandinavia if you're a native English speaker. Sorry Finland :)

Speaking of, I was just in Finland for the first time ever on a layover at Helsinki airport. Have to say Finn Air is one of the best airlines I've ever flown and, on both flights on my way out, I sat next to Finns -- a man and a woman. Both two of the coolest people I've ever met on planes. Will definitely be going the Finn route next time :)

As far as the promo -- I'm grabbing Trine. Woohoo. Only played a little bit of it at a friend's house and am not usually a platformer fan at all, but Trine is awesome so am happy I'll be owning it in, oh, about 3 minutes :)

Here I am: I have all the games in the offer... :P
I'm going back and forth on Alan Wake and Riddick, someone convince me either way. :)

I have completed both (from GOG). It depends if you want a 3rd person action/survival game, or a first person action/stealth game.

Both are worth playing.
Another day, still no purchase. Played/not interested/can't run.

retsuseiba: I've been eyeing Riddick for some time now. Is it worth it? I see lots of people praising Escape from Butcher Bay, but significantly less praise for Assault on Dark Athena.

Edit: Actually the description says it also includes a remake of Escape From Butcher Bay. Now I'm even more interested, but first can anyone elaborate on that (version differences, up and downsides, etc)?
I played Butchers Bay when it came out and it was a really good game (even with those graphics I have to say it looked really good). Good story and voice acting. I have been spying Dark Athena but now that it's on sale I have no reason not to purchase. I recommend the purchase at this low price for Escape from Butcher's bay alone.
Picked up Trine the only one i didn't own

jacobmarner: The Hitman games are Scandinavian too and so is the Longest Journey games.

timppu: On the other hand, three games out of four (Alan Wake, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Trine) in this deal are actually not Scandinavian games, as Finland is not part of Scandinavia.

"Fennoscandian games" or "Nordic countries' games" would be closer to truth, but then people would be like "Huh?".

(Yeah, I'm nitpicking, so sue me. :))
Yep, we know this, and we're sorry.
We had Nordic Weekend Promo just a while back, and Viking Games earlier, so, after deciding that "Fennoscandian" isn't the greatest marketing hook, a tough decision had do be made. As a form of self-punishment, we won't be using company chauffers, masseuses, and food service for two weeks.
Great Deal! Bought Alan Wake and The Chronicles of Riddick: Aussault on Dark Athena.

Thought a long time about buying Alan Wake and Riddick, and now it's DRM free on sale. Awesome!

I already owned Trine.
Great set of games, even better for under $20, I'd snap them up in a second if I didn't already own them all. For those who don't now is a great chance to get your hands on them (and remember The Chronicles of Riddick is actually two games packaged as one.

TOTALLY off topic; ever play the 1st Riddick game, Escape From Butcher Bay? Unfortunatly my system is too weak for Dark Athena.
I just realized Athena is a quisi-remake of Butcher Bay. Oooops!

I was tempted. But I already own Riddick and Trine (on GG), and I'm not interested in Alan Wake so I buy Medal of Honor War Chest instead.
Very nice, AW is tempting.
