Hi, I'm Brazillian and I'm planing to study abroad, and I'm considering Australia.

I just wanna exchange some e-mails to learn about living in Australia, because I don't know anything on costs, lifestyle and whatever someone needs to know before traveling. It would be nice to talk a bit before deciding.
Thank you!

Don't say anything bad about Steve Irwin, you'll probably get lynched...

Wow, what a stinging riposte...
5 people have been killed by giant stingrays. Ever.

Steve Irwin was very, very unlucky.

Now, drop bears on the other hand, kill at least 40 unsuspecting naive tourists Per Year.
Have you found this?

Also, do you have an idea of where in Australia you would like to study?

My suggestion would be to go to your nearest hostel. There's always plenty of them.

Well, Rincewind insists that they exist, and that's good enough for me.

Ah, the exploits of Rincewind and his faithful (?!) luggage.

Australia is full of murder , as detailed in this tourism song .

Fortunately, I live in Melbourne, which has 70% less fauna murder.
The most important piece of advice I can give to any foreigner who wishes to visit our lands is this: Vegemite is not chocolate. Spread it very thinly on buttered toast or a buttered cracker, otherwise you're gonna have a bad time. A very bad time indeed.

In all seriousness though, I'm not too comfortable giving out my email address (as I use my real name for that), but I'd be happy to talk via PM is you so desire. Any questions you have, I'll answer to the best of my ability.

Drop bears aren't actually inherently dangerous. Their aggressive nature is to their constantly being stoned on eucalyptus leaves and therefore hallucinating that every living creature is a juicy burger.

Yes, I know that website, thanks ;)

And I really don't know yet wich univertsity i want in
I'm studying Mechanichal Engineering and the universities that offer vacancies for Brazillian exchange students are the "Group of 8" and the "ATN of Universities"
Is anyone able to tell me about some of these universities?

Thanks for the tips on Steve Irvin and drop bears o/
This should help you - a list of the animals in Australia that aren't dangerous:

- Some of the sheep

(Paraphrased from Terry Pratchett)
Wow, I'm not alone on this site :D
Looking at this Group of 8 and ATN thing, the only Unis I have visited & can therefore recommend are Sydney University & UTS. Never visited UNSW.
You might want to check their sites for foreign students:
Sydney Uni

UTS

Also don't go to Queensland. It may look pretty, but that's how the all the animals that want to kill you draw you in.
I wouldn't say sheep are harmless, some are pretty handy with a flick knife and the others are just trying to lure you into a false sense of security.

@fsantox you can personal message if you like (of course that would mean I would have to learn how personal messages work). I'm Brisbane/ Sunny Coast based.
