Psyringe: Yeah, it went through the news yesterday. Can't say I feel sorry. These cyber bullies only made matters worse on several levels. They squandered their substantial potential for a mere 50 days of questionable fame instead of doing anything actually useful.
Tormentfan: IT'S A HUNDRED AND TWENTY FOUR YEARS.
These kind of sentences for this kind of thing makes me want to vomit,
It's not a sentence. It's a scare number put forward by the prosecution by accumulating the maximally possible sentences of the dozens of crimes that they think he committed. We all know that the number won't hold up in the end. I agree that his crimes wouldn't warrant a 124 years sentence, but he won't receive one, so there's no need to feel sorry for him for it.
My remark "Can't say I feel sorry for him" was not referring to his sentence (because no one knows yet what he'll get), but to the fact that he _did_ get caught and hopefully won't be able to continue this cyber bullying, which had no positive effect whatsoever. He undeniably did have the skills to do something meaningful. Instead, he wasted his talents on useless thuggery, frustrated or scared the part of the public whose support will be necessary to maintain a free net, gave institutions like the FBI a convenient excuse to increase control, and is responsible for parts of the media painting hackers as immature script kiddies again. Whatever noble intentions the first days of LulzSec may have had, was gone three days after the Sony hack, when they all got drunk by their newly felt power (which they promptly wasted on idiotic actions). That's why I feel very little pity for him.
Tormentfan: so they 'jacked PSN big whoop, a bunch of screaming kids couldn't play 'pew pew', it's hardly some kind of sickening societal danger, it was a corporate entiity that should have had it's trousers on tighter.
He did a fair bit more than that. Also, while it's true that Sony should have had better security, that doesn't justify running rampant in others' systems and causing damage. By the same logic, I could steal your wallet and claim that it was justified because you didn't protect it enough.
