Tarm: Isn't that J.J Abrams? The person that's a bigger tease than a schoolgirl?
avatar
Sinizine: Abrams rarely has anything to do with the shows he is attached to. He gets them off the ground by throwing his name around, but that's about it.
Yes. Just like Chris Carter did. They start a show with a nice mystery/plot that never gets anywhere because they can't be bothered to write the whole story, not even in a big sweeping way, before they're off to start a new project.

Sinizine: NBC doesn't cancel stuff that fast, at least compared to say Fox or CBS. They are so far behind in the ratings shows like Chuck and Community make it far further along than they would on other networks.
NBC just cancelled Awake, so I hate them :P

FOX renewed Touch and Fringe even though they have low ratings, for example.

Yeah I am with you there. But I have to expect this from nbc at this point. I remember how they didn't renew Persons Unknown a few summers back...

I really hope Awake gets picked up by another network.
NBC cancelled almost everything they made recently, only Grimm was renewed from better known shows, I think.

It would be great for Awake to be picked up by another network but it didn't happen for any show for some time... And it's possible NBC will finish it somewhat... definitive...

Fringe probably got renewed for two reasons. One is that it's a quality show that's constantly praised so FOX can say "Look. We can do quality TV too.". The other is that they want it to get 100 episodes so they can syndicate it.
And NBC just don't :P

They cancelled The Event, that I also liked...

They cancel everything that has ratings below some point, they don't give shit about "quality tv"... This is why they loose audience every season. People don't want to watch NBC, because they predict the show won't be renewed anyway.

Bur this is just my perspective, as a Polish viewer. And you know how we watch US shows in Poland. :P

I think you might find this forum thread on IMDB interesting.

They cared about quality TV by cancelling the Event :-p. But really, all but Awake that were cancelled this year by NBC were generally low rated critically and didn't exactly have much of a fan base. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're not a Harry's Law fan.

And really, people don't watch NBC because aside from their comedies, their lineup has been awful the last few years, Awake aside.

How do you feel about Awake's ending?

SPOILERS

Do you think he finally woken up, or as in Inception - he just went deeper?

So Awake is yet another cancelled show without a at least somewhat satisfying ending?

Not at all. I actually think part of the reason the show didn't get renewed was because the ending was so "appropriate".

Interesting. So would you say it's worth it to watch the show and still not feeling like there are too many nagging unanswered questions at the end?

Thinking about getting the whole show and watch it.

Yeah I think you should watch the whole show. The ending wraps up the big conspiracy of the season but does not reveal the true condition of the protagonist. However, just like in Inception it gives you enough information to make you think you know the truth.

Also, besides the premise, the acting is the main reason the show is so great.

Edit: The show does reveal a lot of the conspiracy in the first half of the season to the viewer but not to the characters. So for a couple of episodes, you'll be watching the protagonist figure out what you probably already know but that does not make the show any less worth watching.

Definitely looking forward to the second season of Person of Interest, and the final season of Fringe.
Falling Skies:Season 2 starts in but a few weeks!

Rewatching Season 1 at the moment :D
