Are there any other GoG users out there pumped to see what Project Cafe can do?

I'm mainly a PC gamer but damn it if I don't have a major soft spot for Nintendo and all their craziness.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
Although I wouldn't describe myself as a fanboy, I definitely love Nintendo and their games.

I remember I was enthusiastic and almost extatic when Big N announced the 3DS. Then, I tried it. It is not a bad product, but it is not at all what I thought it would be.

So, while I'll definitely keep an eye on Project Cafe, I won't put high hopes on it. It will then make me even happier if it's really an excellent console.

I'm waiting for more good games and probably the second generation (3DS Lite?).
It's a pretty cool device, but too expensive for what it offers right now.

To be honest: I just do not care

Nintendo hasn't impressed me in a long time with anything and I think this "project cafe" will be no different

It will have hardware just slightly better than PS3/360 so once again Nintendo will release a console with outdated hardware with no future potential

3RD party companies have already been working on it so you can expect to see nothing but ports, especially at launch

No new details regarding an improved online system

The biggest insult is that the system will not have a built-in harddrive

Supposedly Nintendo is going after the "Serious gamer" but it's going to have to put out something really impressive to get my attention, and no, the rumored exclusivity of GTAV will not do it

Oh and of course the system will offer less features than competitors, be underpowered and overpriced, like every other nintendo hardware ever

I'm interested in the control system of this new console from Nintendo, considering how much the "wow" factor made the Wii a worldwide success of the last generation....

Depends. If the hardware is outdated and the games outstanding, then i'll buy it. I don't care having a top notch hardware if the games are only midly interesting...

The only thing I wish would be a true network, not like the Wii... That was the biggest mistake from Nintendo on the Wii, I think.

Hardware pretty much dictates what games it's possible to do on a system

By the time P-C releases it will be 2012 and I'm guessing a year/couple of years after that new systems from MS/SONY will follow

Yeah, what games it's possible to do ON A TECHNICAL POINT OF VIEW. The hardware has never dictated what it's possible to do in term of depth, of interest (scenario-wise). I really don't care if a game is not Crysis2-like in terms of graphism. You can give me a ugly game any day if it has the depth of Planescape Torment or Final Fantasy IV.

- Scratch that question. A quick google revealed a thousand sources citing this rumour.

If it really has no HDD then I struggle to see how it will survive against it's competition.

It's a meee, Mario! There will probably be a port for that Zelda game where the guy's wearing skin colored pants. I'm also predicting a Metroid: Rying C. But mostly casual gaming galore. (you can so hear my bitterness over Wii, oh why don't you love me Nintendo!?)

I'm not excited at all. Wii was a disappointment to me (I'm not into these new controller schemes), and I'm expecting this Project Cafe to be some sort of a gimmick console as well. Maybe the name hints at a motion controller maid suit?

I agree completely. Nintendo will probably have a one and a half / two year head start, their ability to hold onto their market dominance will rely entirely on the Software that comes out for their machine during that time. I have no doubt that their first party line up will be stellar, when isn't it? But despite their current lead in the industry the Wii's software attachment rate is about half that of the PS3 or the 360. It is incredibly hard for publishers other than The Big N to make a profit off of software. This generation Nintendo left third parties out in the cold to fend for themselves, like they always do. They're going to have to change their attitude or their next console won't have any chance in reaching the numbers the Wii has. I'd like to see Nintendo pay to market titles other than their own.

Another place Nintendo lacked in this generation was in new franchises. At least the GameCube saw Nintendo release some experimental games, but despite it's new control scheme the Wii only saw sequels to already established series from Nintendo. I'd like to see them move a little out of their comfort zone. Nintendo should also be willing to move away from their family friendly image. The soccer moms and eight year olds aren't going anywhere, I'm sure Nintendo will have no problem reeling them in again. Nintendo needs to appeal to the more Mature gamer. I don't think they would have any problem selling a console to the "hardcore" crowd if their new console saw a monopolization of this generations biggest franchises. If the GTA rumor is true, they have the right idea. But why not go for all the biggest fish? They shoulf get an exclusive Call of Duty, Activision would give it up for enough $$$.

For me personally though, I won't buy it until it has an exclusive Sonic title.

They did have Chinatown Wars exclusive to the DS at launch. That game didnt sell well.
