Dear Friends

What is Rep? Reputation? Is it automaticaly rised or by other users?
This is instead posts number?
Best regards.

Sincerely

There's a green plus and a red minus near the top of my post. Click the green one to give me more rep. Over time it goes up or down, but really it's pretty useless for any particular purpose and is subject to abuse.

It's the number of useful posts you've made (as voted by GOG's users) - the number of stupid posts you've made (as voted by the users). It's what the plus and minus in the upper right corner are for.

True. But folks with a couple hundred points like you have are generally thoughtful and insightful folk.

Click the + where it says "rate this post" and I'll tell you.

I seem to remember a certain person whose rep would swing by several hundred on a regular basis.

But yes, typically those with hundreds of points reliably are probably well viewed. Or they could just be upping their rep for the most epic lulz of all time.
Dear Friends

I haven't seen it before :) ...it's hidden and barrely visible ;)
Is there any chance to check, which my posts are for + and which for -, and who gave me + or -?
Best regards.

Sincerely
Rep also basically tells you who the regulars are as naturally more posts and participation will mean a higher score as well. A high score doesn't necessarily mean that person won't write the dumbest thing on the planet for any particular thread. Usually intelligent mind you.

Well you don't. If a post receives lost of positive rep though you will see highly rated next to your post. If it's deemed to be crap by a lot of people, it will say low rated next to it.

You can't see who has rated your posts, but if your posts have received several + ratings you will get a "highly rated" or even I think a "very highly rated" and those will be indications of rep added to your account.

You also receive rep if your post has been marked as the solution to a question thread (like this thread if you mark my post as the solution, I receive 5 points :P). After the initial point where you receive 1 rep per every post you make, eventually you then just receive 1 rep point per post per day (i.e. had I not already posted once today, I would receive 1 rep point, but since I have, I won't receive another).

So what do the silver stars indicate?

Rep levels, I believe the first one is at 25 points, the second at 150 points, and I am not entirely certain where the other demarcations are at.

EDIT: missed "not" in "not entirely certain"

3 at 500, 4 at 1000, nobody thus far has 5. Max is 5.
Dear Friends

So my 8 posts has been rated on + by users, wow! :)
It's a pleasure, thank you very much for those of you, I don't know, who you are and what you have found in my post that it deserved to rate for + and I am glad, that you understand my very poor English, which I have learnt by myself :) It's a honor.

Best regards.

Sincerely
I guess the main advantage to having high rep is that you get a bit of extra tolerance over borderline posts, the reader is more likely to interpret it as a lack of intonation rather than as actual snarkiness.

Now there's a nice challenge for our unmentioned rep manipulator. It would be a heavy nail in the coffin if he were the first to hit it.

I seem to remember Namur hitting 2500, but he seems to be down again. Must be my mind is on the blink.
