Small Soldiers. I still enjoy that one.

Jingle All the Way is a holiday classic. Seriously. That movie is hilarious, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad playing off each other really well.

I wholeheartedly agree. I really enjoy that one and next to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Die Hard, it's probably my favorite Christmas movie.

I actually found the third movie to be the one where she seemed pretty psycho, but it was a terrible movie in any light. The script I'd read for it didn't make it any better. I prefer to feel that the second and first movies were the only good ones, and I liked the thought of Ripley and the others going off to have a decent life after all that hardship.

The hybrid aspect in the 4th film, while perhaps not the best idea, actually appealed to me. It was certainly better than the Ripley in Alien 3, and Winona Ryder's character was interesting. Reminded me of an anime I once saw called Armitage the Third, at least insofar as being an android built by androids. It's a pity they stopped working on a follow-up just because she was busted for shop-lifting. I think it was more a convenient excuse to not make anymore.

Although the resulting Alien giving live birth stuff was pushing it, I felt.

I really like the 1977 animated version of The Hobbit. In terms of visual style, it had a water-colored aesthetic that strongly lent itself to imparting the fantasy that was Middle Earth. The music for the film water hit and miss in my opinion, the best pieces being 'Misty Mountains Cold', 'Gollum's Ride', and the two goblin songs - especially 'Funny Little Things'. The intention of the goblins to burn the dwarves to death was especially chilling with that musical setpiece.

Not that the film is perfect, as the animation can be questionable, the movie lacks some of the segments in the book, and the DVD has some audio omissions with the spider-slaying...still, I say the film is one of the best adaptions of Middle Earth, in my opinion. I especially liked the portrayal of the orcs and Smaug, as they looked truly dangerous to me.

Like some people, I found the costume to be one of the most distracting parts of the film. It does nothing to enhance her character, it just shows off flesh. This is sort of how I feel about pointless sex scenes just to get some T&A for an attractive lady into a film. It certainly doesn't do anything to make the movies better, it's just padding and pandering.

It's kind of like Megan Fox in the first Transformers. Her only real role was to be there, look sexy, and occasionally make a pouty face. She had hardly any dialogue that served a purpose, most of the information about her came from other people.

Main difference is that Milla's character was the center of the whole film. I guess they were following the idea behind Lara Croft's original design. "If you're going to be looking at somebody for a while, they should be as attractive as possible." Which, I kid you not, is what the game's developers said.

EDIT: Oh gods, I need to stop reading this topic. There's movie I could sit and argue against being good (or for being good) and I have more to do with my time right now. :p

I'm not saying that's not true. But deep characters are not necessarily something I look for in a mindless action-space-opera-popcorn flick, to be honest. So superfluous "nudity" (it's not even that) of hot actresses, pointless explosions, completely unrealistic futuristic guns and other stupid (but really cool) stuff I don't mind.

I heartily endorse this event or product.

Anyone seen The Watch [ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1298649/ ] and laughed as much as I did?

It didn't get good reviews, and has low scores on IMDb, Metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes, so I started to watch it with low expectations, but it blew my mind. I found it very funny and I think it combines comedy with sci-fi very well.

Mutant Chronicles. Great steampunk/end of the world movie. They even got Ron Perlman and John Malkovich in supporting roles! But i also have a soft spot for B-movies...

We speaking about "The 5th Element" here? If so then imo it's a great movie! It's exactly as it's supposed to be which is even visible in set design. Everything is inconvenient, plastic and synthetic. The movie is a parody of science-fiction movies. ;)

Let's put it this way: Milla Jovovich's duct-tape outfit may not enhance her character, but it definitly enhances the movie. ;)
