Even one year after same here, nothing new with the new Galaxy Update. Must be devils magic to make an app quit correctly.
Also most DOS games don't run with the integrated DOS Box on macOS – so I always have to download the installer, extract it with a third party tool (cause GOG won't supply the raw files) and start the game with DOS Box Staging where they run perfectly fine. Support said about two years ago they are aware of this problem and will care about it and absolutely nothing happened as far as I know and it's just the same with this Quit-Freeze issue.
I still love GOG, I'll still use GOG as my primary source for games, but I wish they'd care more about macOS support (and the launcher integration plugins which fail on every OS). </3
This is the recent answer from support (May 2024):
The issue that you have described in your most recent e-mail is something that we are aware of and are working on addressing ASAP. Currently the workaround to this particular problem that we can offer, is to force quit the client when you are not longer in need of using it. Instructions on how to force quit an app can be found here:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201276.
At this point in time I am sadly unable to tell when exactly the fix for this particular problem will be addressed, but as soon as we will have the fix ready and deployed, we will definitely let our users know about it via the patch notes that will introduce the fix to the bug with the client.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused and if you have any other questions that you would like to ask, then feel free to reply to this e-mail and let me know.
