I just bought Neverwinter Nights Diamond, but the game is lagging rediculously much. Right from the beginning when I start the single player campaign, everything is lagging. If I click on the ground for the character to move there, nothing happens for a few seconds and then the character kind of just appears there, as if the FPS are lower than 1. Even when I bring up the menu while still in the loaded game it lags. In the main menu, it is lag free.

I have googled this problem and I have tried "changing" to "Windows XP SP2" and also lowering the colors. I have checked the number of cores of the CPU (which by default was set to only one (which was suggested online)) and also the suggested sound settings checks out. All drives are updated too. Changing graphics doesn't change anything and I know my computer can run the game.

I use windows 10 on my computer.

Any suggestions as to what might be the problem and how to fix it? I read that I can get the money back, but I really prefer to make the game work instead.

Edit: I made it to the second area and it took several minutes for this area to load. It is like the computer is choosing not to give this game any effort, resulting in it being incredibly slow.

Did you give this a try?

Are you using a onboard GPU or dedicated GPU?

Not sure if it might help.....dgVoodoo, might be worth a try....

BUT, loading taking ages would normally exclude GPU.....did you check, if for any reason your antivirus might get triggered? Would explain the slow loading of the second area.....

It actually turned out that I hadn't updated everything via windows update after all. After I did, everything worked fine. Except when I appeared at some water fountains in the city (just outside the temple of Tyr), the lagging started again, though not as much even though it was severe. Turning off the graphical setting called something like "texture animation" (movement of water etc) fixed it. It seems odd that such a small thing would cause so much lag, but there you go. Maybe something could fix this or maybe the game is very broken. I know my computer can handle more demanding games than this one, but I don't mind too much turning that setting off anyway. It's not like I'm playing NWN1 to get blown away by the visuals.

Thanks for the help!

No problem and you arrrrrrre welcome ;)

with this small little things....quite often an oversight or similar when moving to a new driver version and not including all fixes :D

(just check how many times an older driver is doing a better job than a new one :D
And the rest lagging....could be from non-optimised code or false calling of said code.
Just check in this subforum about the cloaking :D

Me for this game with my AMD-GPU no problem....I do have hickups on other games though :D
