**** the haters who gave 0-3 for this great game, voting against DRM-free games, with free DLCs, real choice and consequences.
**** the stupid trolls that call themselves video game reviewers, like that idiot on destructiond or that guy on the escapist who gave Dragon Age 2 5/5 and The Witcher 2 3.5/5

I know that metacritic doesn't matter, but I'm still disappointed. People complaining that the game is hard, that it doesn't underestimate their mental abilities and that it is too complex...please cdp don't ever change.
Cheer up, dear. 10/10 from me for this gem. We're not alone. :)
There was a company that put it employees in line to rate this game down. No one how actually played could rate it less than 8.5 at it worst.
The 89 critic, 88 user rating is pretty fair in my opinion. If you think a game has to be in the 95% range for anyonew to enjoy it you've got massively high standards.

Once a game is into the 80%, or 4 out of 5 rating it's a solid game that deserves further investigation as to whether it's a game the customer would enjoy playing. If you would have told CDP a year ago that Witcher 2 would get an overall 89% rating from critics I'm sure they would have gladly taken it.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition only got 86 critic, 87 user so it's doing better than the original.
Screw Metacritic! I hate that site.

Wait and see what happens when W2 is released on the XBox. the overall score will probably take a hit because a bunch of PS3 kids are crying children's tears.
Yes, damn those idiots that have opinions that they support in text!

Seriously, I wish all publications would stop with the ratings altogether. Just write a detailed review about what's good and what's bad about the game, and you as an intelligent consumer should be able to decide if it's in your interest.

Every rating is SUBJECTIVE, and has absolutely no matter at all. The important thing is if you like it.
if you didn't like this game you're a moron, bottom line.
No, and your attitude is what's wrong about so much in this.

There's no bad or good opinions, just bad or good explanations. The Escapist review, which is the lowest scoring on Metacritic, is a really good review which points out flaws in the game. If you don't agree with the bad points the reviewer brings up - then awesome, you've got a potential great game to buy!

This game has serious issues with the UI alone.

On that note, I would not give any game with serious UI issues a >90 score.

I'm also not posting to metacritic until CDPR patches the game a few times. After all, I remember how horrible TW1 was on launch.
Actually metacritic had 2 reviews at 60% last I checked. One was from Jim Sterling at Destructiod I have no idea who the other was.

However they are just other people's opinions. Remember though. Rightly or wrongly these opinions do matter. Sequels have been killed by publishers over low ratings at Metacritic.
So what, La Noire is below 90 and that's a Rockstar game...
This is why reviews shouldn't have scores, because all the complaints I have found on the GOG forum for Witcher 2 are the same complaints I found in his review. People just don't think that those issues should give it such a low score.

I actually read Jim Sterling's review and agreed with pretty much every point he made. I especially agreed with him saying that the story for this game felt more like a stop-gap than a sequel and that the menus were terrible.
Metacritic is inaccurate, that's the only way to see it: a very general barometer. And TW2, a game from a largely obscure Polish dev with mature content and a complex story...you can't seriously think this is a formula for mainstream success.

This ain't Halo or Mass Effect , so it's just not going to score as well. That is a fact.

This is a good game, but I am finding that the story is not as well fleshed out as the original TW1. That alone is a big issue for me.

Look on a bright side... its within 10% of that other "role playing" game in which you fight a giant termiantor at the end and people thinks that makes for a great story :)
