I am currently playing the prologue and still getting used to the combat mechanics. I am doing reasonably well (Normal difficulty) except when I am attacked by a big group, I am massacred too frequently then. And while running in circles until I can face them 1 vs 1 looks hilarious, there must be something else I can do. In The Witcher 1 there was the group fighting style (which you are taught in the beginning) to handle groups of enemies attacking at the same time. What are your strategies in The Witcher 2?

From the manual I know there's a "group finisher move" down the swordsmanship path, but I don't expect to unlock it anytime soon. Are there any other tools (skills, items or strategies) I should be using at the moment?

1. Keep moving, especially if there are ranged fighters.

2. Archers first. If Geralt rolls to them they mutate to simple swordsman with bad armour.

3. Enemies without good armour are easy. They are the next targets on the way to isolate the heavily armoured enemies, with or without shield.

4. No click-orgies. Aimed single hits, or the program will throw you before the feet of enemies you want to avoid.

5. Use the potions - oils - bombs - signs you own from the very beginning.

And here are two examples:

Thank you very much for the comments and the videos. That fight near the ballista was tough...

Is this The Witcher 2's equivalent of clicking too fast, before the interval, in The Witcher 1?
