Hello, I'm new to the GOG community and recently purchased the Witcher 2 game to play before I start Witcher 3.

After purchasing and downloading from GOG, the game will not launch no matter what I do.

I have run the launcher as admin, re-installed the game twice, tried to launch the game from the launcher.exe and from GOG (whenever I hit 'play' nothing happens).

I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Here are the details of my pc:
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
Processor: Intel i5-4590
DirectX version: 11
Graphics: GTX 970

Any suggestions? My pc is only a month old and I downloaded the game from GOG so I can't imagine missing any of the necessary files.

I would appreciate any advice on how to fix this issue. Thank you!

Hi, have you tried to launch witcher2.exe (in the game folder) instead of launcher?
If the game starts, then I think you just have to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and then also the launcher will work.
If the game still won't launch, you can see if all the needed folders are in the right path: here.
Last try: if you have MSI Afterburn installed on your PC, you can try turn it off before launching the game (or maybe is your antivirus blocking the execution of launcher?) :)
Hi. Thank you for the advice. I've tried launching the .exe (and as an admin) and nothing. I reinstalled to the gog games folder on my computer and still nothing. I also downloaded the C++ and that didn't work. I've also attempted to change the compatability for it like I read in some other forums but that didn't work either. I can get the Witcher 3 to work no problem but this game just does not want to go.

I'm hoping that they respond to my ticket soon, otherwise I just wasted my time and cash.

Hi, I just answered this to another post about the same problem (or as it seems) for the wticher 1: hope this will help!
