buyer123: I heard that witcher 2 is DRM free.... I have bought a retail version as I don't have the net speed to download the whole game.... also I might be upgrading my windows to 8.1 or 10 in a month's time. my question is will it delete my install and how to create a backup of the game. also will the retail version require steam (just like others) or at least will there be any such option?

pls tell me of the various options as downloading is not what I can do.....

Ramesses_: You wont need steam to play the game if you bought a retail copy just run it from the disc.

The game will install on your hard drive, if you update windows you may want to wipe your hard drive first.
If so use the disks to re-install the game after you've updated windows.

Back up your saves though if you're playing the game so you can continue your progress after you installed your new version of windows.
