I am a casual gamer. I wanted to enjoy and play Witcher 2 for the RP experience, but the QTEs have completely ruined it for me. The first time I tried, I could not get past the Kaylen not because of the tentacles but becuasue I IRL have a terrible hand-eye reaction time and can NOT physically do the QTEs fast enough to finish the combat. Now the second time I've tried it, I can't even get past the monestary (same reason).

Please, FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE! Is there any way (I've already tried disabling the 'difficult QTE but it doesn't disable any QTEs) to completely disable QTEs. Otherwise, this game has lost a player and a customer.

-Polaris

Edit: I have a somewhat low end machine so it's possible that my machine isn't 'reading' my clicks fast enough to pass the QTEs but it amounts to the same difference. PLEASE help me either disable/bypass them or I have to relage the game as unplayable.

every QTE lasts like 5 seconds. Cannot see how you cannot get over it. ????????? Driving a car need much faster reflex

there is a QTE easy mode where you can turn it off completely in the option.

I can't ckick FAST enough (or my Machine doesn't read them fast enough) for me to pass them. Do you want to gloat about how bad my reflexes are or would you like to help? I don't see what MY reflexes have to do with anything about Gerald, but that's just me I guess.

-Polaris

Edit PS: And YES, I AM doing this in Easy mode. Makes no difference with QTEs. Seriously.

No there isn't. I've tried unchecking "difficult QTEs" on ver 1.2. Does not work. I get QTEs anyway.

well it does because the Geralt has to react fast to get his luck and avoid the dragon fire and later its teeth.

All you have to do is to right click. So you can probably start clicking it when the cut scene is on ?

Or you can post your save somewhere and someone in due time may play it for you. You only see QTE several times, probably 4 times more from now

HE does but I don't. QTEs have as much place in an RPG as strength testing does for fighting with a sword in IRL. No one asks if we can wield a sword in real life. He's a hero. Treat him as such. If you like QTEs fine, but PLEASE where is the option to disable them for those of use that either don't like them or simply can't pass them?

Doesn't work. I've tried and tried and tried and tried....... please suggest something helpful and useful.

This sucks. If I have to get someone else to do it for me, then I'm gone as a customer forever becasue the game is unplayable.

-Polaris
well then I am sorry.

and yes, I think it is reasonable to desire an option to turn it off.

I am just too surprised to see how so many people cannot deal with QTE. 5 seconds to click on sth, even 1 second is still long enough.

IanPolaris, unless you are handicapped there is no possible way you can't hit the right button at the right time. It gives you plenty of time to either right click, left click, or hit space bar.

I think you issue may be that the game isn't recognizing keyboard and mouse inputs during cutscenes.

IanPolaris:
Can't say I have a solution to your problem but in previous threads regarding the same issue, there has been suggestions to
a) lower your resolution
b) increase mouse sensitivity.

Let us know if it works for you.

Done both. Doesn't help. I can do MOST of the QTEs but it's the game-breaking ones that I can not do.

Congrats. One thing (QTES) have made a promising game a turd because it's umplayable for certain people and machines because no one thought to turn it off.

Thanks for the glowing reception. I've met warmer icebergs than some of you. (Yes I am angry both at the game and the community and the company that made the game).

In the Kaylen scene, the game isn't recognizing them FAST enough. It's one thing to say you should be able to make a click in 1 second. It's another thing to say you have to make a HUNDRED clicks in the same second.

Why can't this thing be turned off?

Which QTEs? So far you have mentioned the dragon in the prologue and the Kayran. Do you have any trouble with aiming the ballista (the one that needs LMB spamming)?

The QTEs that I have problems with are "cocking" the balista (and to a lesser extent aiming it. I have to set my m,ouse sensitivity to max, but I can do it with some headbeating. I then have problems with the Monstestary door to let in the king. I have NO trouble with the dragon in the prologue. I have NO trouble with fist-to-cuffs. I hae NO trouble with the get-out-of-jail QTE either. Finally, I have foudn the Kaylen QTE to be essentially impossible. I have no problems with the tentacles but after words it can't hard me, and I can't end the combat.

Game Over.

-Polaris
As noted above - the main reason a number of people are having difficulty with these QTE's is simply due to their hardware. Lower end machines just cannot react quickly enough - and in many cases make it so that they can "never fill the bar", no matter how fast they click the mouse.

While I agree that an option to "Turn off all QTE's " would satisfy many - the real solution is to upgrade your hardware. Not only will you be able to complete the QTE's, you'll get the added plus of getting much more of the eye-candy that this game has in spades.

If you are stuck, say at the Kayran - just upload your save here and some nice soul will complete it for you, allowing you to carry on and enjoy the game. It is very enjoyable, really.

There are not that many QTE's throughout the game... maybe 5?

Well you did mention that you couldn't get past the monastery and the only QTE component I can think of is the dragon.

Anyway seem like you have no problems with the fist-fights - can you do the two-hit combos with no problem? - which means this is not likely a problem with your reflexes.

Regarding the Kayran, do you fill up the bar and get fling off the tentacles?

vAddicatedGamer: Well you did mention that you couldn't get past the monastery and the only QTE component I can think of is the dragon.
Turning off Difficult QTE removes this QTE altogether. The only QTE's that remain are those where you have to fill up the bar by repeatedly left-clicking the mouse, and I can see how that would create problems if you're on a low-end machine (which affects the time it takes for the game to react to your key- and mouse presses). That aside, the few times you actually have to perform a QTE in order to progress the game - assuming you've disabled the option mentioned above - can be counted on one hand.

Not Acceptable. I may have a low end machine but it DOES meet the minimum specs advertised for this game. Therefore it's not my fault I can not complete the game.

Turning off the Difficult QTE does NOT turn off the monestary QTE. I have (painful) reason to know. Also the Kaylen fight is a show stopper. It doesn't matter if there are "only five" if you can not complete the game without them.

Please give me another solution.

Yes. I can (barely) fill up the bar (sometimes) but still get flung off. No "A" or "space" option appears.

-Polaris

Edit: Could you people please STOP blaming fellow customers and players who might not have as fancy a agming rig as you and deal with the fact the game is not playable when the minimum specs says it should be?
