I've got lots of meat, but I haven't figured out how to cook it. Can someone point me in the right direction or let me know it's fruitless?

You download a mod that allows you to cook it. For instance, this one:

Which also happens to contain a workaround for the craft runes glitch. You'll have to go to the merchant in White Orchard whom you rescued from a griffin in order to get the necessary diagrams.
