Store Search Option
OK so the easiest way to find it is opening the home button you see in the drop down menu for the GOG store when you have Galaxy open now after you press it you're gonna want to look above highlights in the center there and press all games that'll give you the search bar it annoyed me to no end too
Wtf? I'm just trying to buy games. Why is this hard?
Haha you clowns, can't believe you can't search the store.
Years later this is still not implemented... Look CDPR, IF I'll want to find a trailer to a game that's not on your platform I can google it. Please allow us to find games that we can actually purchase.
I bought several games on steam that I was trying to find on GOG because it is literally impossible to find games until I found this thread. WTF guys how is this not being instantly patched when you're throwing away customers??
Ok, I just saw, that there is a search field in the "all games" section. But it was quite frustrating to get there, as it is so unintuitive to not have it accessible in the store tab. Pls add it there, even if it just jumps to the all games tab!!
Guys, this should be priority number 1.
I'm Stunned. There is a way to search the store from within the Galaxy app. What are you thinking gog? Why did you bury it? Did From Software have a hand in creating this App?
I HAVE BEEN GOOGLING AND SEARCHING FOR HALF AN HOUR IM SO FRUSTRATED LOL
This is one of the most infuriating parts about Galaxy.
Very sad. The app search lets you find a flaccid library page of a game, but no way to purchase. Please fix at some point. It will bring you sales!
Can't believe that I had to Google "How to search GOG store". Seriously. Please, just add it as a feature to every store page. When potential customers have to Google how to give you money, that's bad.
I couldn't figure out the search interface, so eventually gave up and bought the game on Steam instead. Then I thought, "wait that's impossible, there must be a search feature somewhere" and found this thread. Oops.
I had to google and through this page I found the search option (which in my eyes) hidden away in 'More Offers' in the Galaxy Client. Call it bad design or call me dumb, any way you are probably leaving money on the table for every user not bothering to google the location of the search function in the Galaxy Client.
CDPR... you guys are utter retards. I ended up pirating the game I wanted because I couldn't figure out how to SEARCH the store for the game in the GOG Galaxy app.
You want to make it difficult for customers to give you money? fine, I don't want to know how to do it. Moreover, I refuse to read the comments below to be taught how to do it - I will simply use other superior platforms or return to piracy.
Keep it up!
Ok, also found it now through the comments here. But this should be so much easier and just part of the "normal" search on the left.
I have no words. Just think for a moment: how stupid is it to fail to provide your potential customers with the ability to find what we're looking for?
I want to see if I can buy a specific game on GOG... and can't search for it.
What the bloody hell are you thinking?
I must add my voice to the chorus: please put store search where it belongs, i.e. the front page of the store. For those people who, like me, had to google how to search for a game in GOG Galaxy store: it's currently under "More offers".
I ended up here after typing "search games store gog" in duckduckgo. I still can't friggin figure out how to search for games in the store.
I had to look on the web for how to search your store to give you money.
I mean, come on.
ah ffs! it's under more options. thanks @doggyhatefire
Nobody should have to google how to search the store on your client. How have you not fixed this yet? Why can't the search in the left corner also include store results? How is anyone supposed to know to click on "More offers"? I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm shocked at how bad the design is.
Great, it's in "more offers." You would think when a design choice is stopping sales they would fix it quickly. Not many companies are competent anymore.
And why is there not even a way to search on content/genre? That would be very helpful. I'd probably buy a lot more at GoG if they would actually let me properly browse what they're trying to sell.
WHAT? It's not in "STORE" it's in "More Offers"?
Who designed this???
Yeah, this is really bad. I just tried to search for a game called Tavern Master, and it takes me to a page about it, but no buy button, no reviews. I was really confused until I realised I was no longer on their store!
Very badly designed.
what the hell sort of stupid mess is this app were the hell do you search for a game in store?
Agreed, the app's search function is horrible. It does not focus on store content, but instead serves as some kind of database for games that are NOT even on the store. Useless and very confusing for me.
Have to second this - GoG Galaxy is brilliant and I have just moved my GoG and Steam libraries into it but I too was struggling to find any Store search option. It is indeed inside "More Offers" (thanks) but why is it not on the main/home Store page ?!
Just throwing in my 2 cents that hiding the search function inside the "More Offers" section seems like pretty bad design.
I just went to search for a game on the GOG client and could find the search. I guess I am not a lone ffs
what is this? no search bar? O_o
While it is kind of refreshing, it is also baffling how you do not want my money, GOG.
I totally agree it is annoying and a big design fail. The store search should be the easiest thing to find in any only shop. I can't imagine how many sales GOG lost with that design issue.
Really, really annoying design. Every time I need to search for search. The search in the left upper corner doesn't search in store but searches some common game library instead.
For those that still can't find it, click on "More Offers". The search box is there.
Arrived at this page after searching "how to search in gog galaxy", and thought I'd add my name to the other baffled people who had to search... how to search. Very odd design.
Download Steam
Make a profile (this is free)
Copy everything that works on Steam.
Do NOT try to come up with better solutions to anything.
Do NOT try to reinvent features that work flawlessly.
This golden advice was free. Enjoy your increase in revenue.
Open GoG.
Click magnifying glass next to profile icon and enter Mass Effect.
Click Legendary Edition and see game info with no purchase option.
Click Store at the top, look for search button--WTH?
Google:"gog store search".
See this thread and click More offers.
Type mass effect and search.

the fact that a proper search option is missing honestly made me use gog a lot less. this is BASIC functionality that other platforms have, so why waste my time here if the developers don't even bother?
I am annoyed every time i want to buy a specific game on gog.
I really want buy from you guys - but making me search for the search function, is frustrating - and disrespecting my time. C'MON change this. Give me a autofocus "search here" Google Like Experience, NOW.
thanks in advance ...
Never in a million years would I have thought to click "more offers" for search. If anything, I assumed it would do the same thing as browse.
Just adding my voice to the cacophony that seems to be falling on deaf ears. Please, please, please correct this!!!
I can't believe I needed to Google how to buy a game in the Galaxy app.
This seems absolutely insane to me. Why does a store hide the function, wtih which I can find the things I want to buy from them? Obviously they don't want me to buy anything I am looking for. But then why set up a store?!?! I'd really like to hear anything regarding this "feature" from the person(s) responsible for this decision. It is just mind boggeling...
so frustration without this little function
A SAD SEARCHING SHOPPER'S SHORT STORY:
So I downloaded GOG Galaxy when I bought Cyberpunk (wanted CDPR to get all of my money), so I'm new to the platform. I pulled up Steam today to buy some new games, but then I thought, "hmm, Steam has gotten my money for years, so maybe I'll buy some games from GOG instead today and spread the cash around a bit".
After 5 minutes of straight up frustration, I eventually googled "How the hell do I search on GOG?" And that landed me here, on this forum page.
Finding out that the search function is 'hidden' was very annoying, but I was still going to buy some games. After all, we all deal with poorly designed UI on consoles, PC apps, phones, etc. every day... So I'll live; it's no deal breaker. But digging a little deeper only to find out that hundreds -- nay, *thousands* -- of loyal, but very annoyed, customers have been complaining about this for several YEARS, and GOG has never cared enough to fix it? Well that, my dear future strangers who end up reading this after a frustrated Google search, was indeed, a true deal breaker.
I spend way, way too much on video games. Hundreds a month to be sure. Sadly, that money shall forever continue to go towards Gabe's newest yacht. I feel gross. Goodbye.
Just awful UX. Why is the search field hidden? This left my so annoyed.
Ahhhh there it is....hillarious
The person who earlier said stuff like this is the reason people continue to buy from steam wasn't being facetious. I WANT to buy from GoG because the Indie game selection seems so much better, but I can't find anything. Not only is the search bar not prominently available, your categories are rudimentary. If I search for CRPG, which is a large genre of games, I get 0 results. Really!?
