Story:Your adventure begins when you’re secretly dropped off on the island of Alida. The story centers around four young men in the band Alida who attained phenomenal success with their first CD release. Loads of money coupled with wild imagination resulted in the band’s construction of a guitar-shaped island theme park. Alida was abandoned when money woes and paranoia set in and the band split up. Now, several years later, the band’s manager suggests a reunion on the island. Soon thereafter band member Arin leaves for the island and is not heard from again. His wife Julia sends you to Alida to find Arin and bring him home.Show more

Successful Australian band grows to mistrust their manager so much they convert their giant guitar theme park from tourist attraction to combination lock, hiding their assets behind elaborate puzzle locks just to keep their manager from getting to it. Absurd, and yet still believable, even more so after watching the interview with the creator.
He’s seen it before: people go crazy when they get money, so of course they’d build a giant guitar off the coast of Australia, and of course their manager would make some bad investments with their money, so of course the bandmembers would use their giant guitar to hide their money from their manager. Of course!
It has an addicting quality to it. I put it down, wanting to take a break, only to give in to the urge to pick it up again because there are so many clues everywhere I look, all of them add up, and I don’t want to stop until they fall into place.
Alida is tantalizing like this. Playing with the equipment yields new information all the time, and watching it add up keeps me going back for more. Even when I am frustrated on a puzzle I can’t seem to make progress on, my mind drifts to something else, and behold! A few clues that add up!
Connections are everywhere! I can’t stop until I find them all!
I needed no walkthrough this time. Everything you need to solve the puzzles is in your environment, in plain sight. Pay attention, and connections becomes apparent. Alida was better the second time around because I found all the connections on my own. That one puzzle I solved by accident on my first playthrough? This time I figured out and I understood its logic. My only memory cheat was recalling the importance of flashing lights.
Alida deserves a high-rez remaster. It’s a superbly-designed adventure game, full of creativity and consistent internal logic. It shouldn’t be forgotten.

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed.
The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo.
As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity.
Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. Resident Evil was developed over the course of one year and two months as part of an exclusivity deal between Capcom and Nintendo. It was directed by Shinji Mikami, who also designed and directed the original Resident Evil. Mikami decided to produce a remake because he felt that the original had not aged well and that the GameCube's capabilities could bring the game closer to his original vision. The game retains the same graphical presentation, with 3D models superimposed over pre-rendered backgrounds. However, the quality of the graphics were vastly improved. The remake also features new gameplay mechanics, revised puzzles, additional explorable areas, a revised script, and new story details including an entire subplot cut from the original game.
Upon release, Resident Evil received critical acclaim from video game journalists, who praised its graphics and improved gameplay over the original game. It is often described as one of the best, scariest, and most visually impressive entries in the Resident Evil series. Despite this, the game sold worse than expected and led Capcom to change the direction of the series to a more action-oriented approach. In 2008, the game was ported to the Wii, featuring a new control system.
