Cursed 3 is the final entry in a trilogy of games by indie developer Disastersquad and released for free on Steam and Itch.io in 2022. Like Cursed 2 it also received a major update adding even more content in 2024. Once again it is a brilliantly crafted adventure in the point 'n' click style interspersed with combat and now utilises a 360 degree navigation system rather than the Shadowgate-esque room to room travel of Cursed 1 & 2. Disastersquad really shows how far they have come with this entry being robust in design and graphically impressive while the story wraps up the events of the trilogy nicely, tying up loose ends from the first two games into a very satisfying conclusion (at least if you seek out the true end and not a false ending).
This entry was the one I enjoyed most out of the entire trilogy because the game design is rounded out nicely in all areas, the story is even more intriguing than in Cursed 2 and the combat system is more fluid and fits the gameplay somewhat more seamlessly. Given the excellent time I had with Cursed 2 I knew I would play this from start to finish and despite a major bug when the game first released which Disastersquad was kind enough to provide the solution to in order to get the game to run, the game has ran flawlessly. This intervention by Disastersquad is just one example of this developer going above and beyond for people who enjoy their games, also tuning into people streaming the Cursed games to provide support if needed.
I cannot truly express in words just how good this particular entry and the Cursed Trilogy as a whole is. If you are a fan of retro adventures, that old-school pixel horror-vibe or just excellent storytelling, you will have a good time. It's now been a couple of years since I finished playing the trilogy and I still remember it vividly, sitting among some of my favourite games of all time. This entry deserves preservation as does the entire trilogy and GOG I feel is the place it should be.
