It was a weekend of September 1994. I went to my favorite mall to watch a movie (I can't remember which one). There was still some time before the next show and I noticed there was an arcade saloon right next to the theater. I was curious as which machines were there and took a peek. First game I noticed? Daytonaaaaaaaaa! Let's go away! I immediately fell in love. The graphics, the music, the sound effects, the gameplay, everything I had played so far became nearly obsolete in front Daytona USA. Ever since then, I made up any kind of excuse to visit the arcade so that I could see the game and try to play it, since it was the busiest and most played game for almost two years, even after new machines came and went. It was really that great and it's my all-time favorite arcade game.

A trip to the arcades weren't complete without hearing the Daytona cabinet. It was a classic, along with Sega Rally and House of the Dead, making it a staple of my childhood.
This among Sega Rally Championship really were the breakthrough for arcade racing with nice to look at 3D graphics to me. The music is also catchy and I even own the soundtrack on physical CDs. I personally only know the arcade version but know that the original Microsoft Windows release back then was quite authentic with many easter eggs, added extras and settings. I really would like to get my hands on a version that would run smoothly on modern setups without troubleshooting/compatibility issues. Please get the original and not the Championship Circuit Edition (latter using Sega Rally Championship's engine instead).
I remember when I was young and I went to chucky cheese and they had the deluxe cabinet and the music screaming DDAAYYYYTTTOOONNNAAAAAA. Ever since then I been in love with the game. I played it countless hours in the arcade and when I finally got a Sega Saturn, Daytona USA was my first game. This is the ultimate arcade racer, and with the best music soundtrack for a racing game, of all time.

Need for Speed: Underground 2
Need for Speed: Underground 2Need For Speed Underground 2 takes place in Bayview after the events of Need for Speed: Underground. The prologue begins with the player driving in a Nissan Skyline R34 in Olympic City (though the racing scenes are actually in Bayview), the setting of NFS:UG. He then receives a race challenge from a rather ominous personality who offers him a spot on his crew, but "won't take 'no' for an answer." The player races off — despite Samantha's warnings — only to be ambushed by a mysterious driver in a rage that totals his Skyline. The driver, who has a unique scythe tattoo, makes a call confirming the accident, and the flashback fades out.

Who Shot Johnny Rock?
Who Shot Johnny Rock?Another live-actor arcade shooter by American Laser Games (makers of Mad Dog McCree and Crime Patrol), Who Shot Johnny Rock is set in the classic 1920's style gangster era. As the title suggests, you're supposed to find out who shot singer Johnny Rock (or at least who hired the guys who shot him) and put them behind bars. There are some differences between this game and previous American Laser Games shooters. Instead of a wimpy pistol, you get a tommy gun (which doesn't need to be reloaded). Unfortunately, you also have limited ammo and need to buy more at times. Instead of lives you have a fixed supply of money, and each time you die you lose some cash. Lose it all and it's game over.

Aliens: The Computer Game
Aliens: The Computer GameAliens: The Computer Game is a 1986 video game developed and published by Activision for the Commodore 64, Apple II based on the film of the same title. As Activision's UK subsidiary Electric Dreams Software had independently released their own version of the game with the same title, the game was renamed for European release. Initially planned to be released as Aliens: The Second Part, it was finally published under the title Aliens: US Version with ports for the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum produced by Mr Micro. Aliens is a series of six minigames strung together via graphical interactive sequences, akin to an adventure game, though the only interaction possible is advancing the dialog, displayed in speech balloons. The minigames are mostly action sequences that involve piloting a ship from Sulaco to the planet's surface, recognizing equipment, and fighting aliens.
