Now let me say that I'm not the greatest fan of the Far Cry series, BUT this game was a real enjoyment to play. Full of edgy 90s action dialogue and scenes, connected with cool abilities and sci-fi shenanigans, and while being a tad short it never outstayed its welcome.
Definitely deserves a place in the GOG library.
Full of 80s/90s action movie tropes and lines the both poke fun and pay homage to the genre. It's all over the top in the best ways possible. I have replayed through this multiple times and I don't generally replay a game once I've beat it. This one was just too much fun. They really did everything right in this game and is where the Far Cry series peaks for me. Really hope to see it in the library in the future.
I played Far Cry back in the day. It was great on the island.
Skipped FC2 and that was it.
Then FC3 released and I didnt knew if my pc could handle it.
So I grabbed Blood Dragon for a tenner and never regretted it!
It was ooo much fun from the beginning till the end!
The spoofs on 80s sci-fi pop-culture, the absurdity of weapon descriptions (C400? glowing bows? Everything has a funny one!), the one liners...
Everything!
I just wish there was a part 2.

Unlike the many subsequent ports (to Playstation, GameBoy Advance, etc.), this release is a full remake, programmed from scratch with real-time 3D graphics. The characters have a "super-deformed" touch. There is also voice acting during cut-scenes. A new option has been added to the menu, which allows the player to read a conversation between party members and receive advice from them.
It also features many gameplay additions. The difficulty level has been increased, not only beyond the difficulty of the Western SNES release (which was reduced compared to Japanese original and subsequent ports), but even beyond the original difficulty. The party members are still bound by class, but they can now hunt for so-called "augments", which can be found or stolen from enemies and which grant the characters additional bonus abilities, resistances, spells that their class would normally not allow, etc.
Beside those major changes, there are also plenty of minor additions. It is possible to obtain bonus items after exploring every corner and filling 100% of an area map; Rydia, the summoner girl, has a new monster summon who can be customized in various ways; there is a new quest involving the "naming" moogle of the original game, etc.Action Fantasy
