Halo 2 in my opinion, due to not having easily accessible ways of patching it and getting it to run on modern hardware/operating systems and being chained still to the old windows vista live DRM etc, really needs a respectful touch up to it's functionality and to have it's original designs from both original Xbox and the PC versions in a preserved state.
Like the first Halo, this one has a captivating pull to it once you pick up the controller (Or Keyboard and Mouse) and get past that sombre main menu, watching the reflective story telling of Master Chief and the new character The Arbiter unfold as you have access to duel wielding now and more attention to side characters in the campaign with stand outs like Miranda Keyes, Rtas 'Vadum (Half-jaw), Sergeant Johnson and Guilty Spark.
The game also stands out historically as having one of the hardest difficulty mode challenges with the infamous "Jackel Sniper" Filtering where you have to start memorizing each spawn point of a covenant sniper like it's a game design pattern from old arcades.
The rock music also is a very welcome addition and very ironically mid-early 2000s.
