I love this game. As a fan of Madness Combat and Madness Project Nexus, I can confidently say this game stands out. Its mechanics, art style, graphics, and animations feel unique. Even if you’re not already a Madness Combat or Project Nexus fan, this game will probably win you over.
The story is solid, and the characters are well-developed. There are multiple game modes: story mode, arena combat, and the playground (and the tutorial, if we count it). I really hope this game gets added to GOG, as the Steam version has DRM, and I don’t want it to rot away and/or be forgotten.
It’s not too hard to pick up, though it can become challenging in both story mode and arena combat. My favorite part is arena combat—it’s one of the main reasons this game has such replay value.
In arena combat, you choose a character with unique abilities (or none at all), then upgrade them in various ways—leveling up, selecting skills, buying weapons and armor, and even customizing their appearance (like recoloring clothes or changing body parts, these cosmetic changes don’t affect gameplay; they’re just for personal style).
You earn experience, money, and tokens by completing missions. After beating arena combat, you can replay it with a new character, and the more you play, the more your character improves. The game tracks how many times you've completed arena combat, rewarding you with better stats the next time you play. There’s more to discover, but I’ll let you find the rest!
Story mode is fun, with a Madness Combat episode vibe—close enough to scratch that itch. And the best part? You can play with friends! Up to three additional players, if I remember correctly.
Please vote for this game to help preserve it forever, whether you’re a Madness Combat or Project Nexus fan or not. I highly recommend playing it—or at least checking out some gameplay on YouTube.
And yes, I know it's not much of a memory, as oppose to what the GOG page may suggest.
