MechCommander was released in 1998. It had an expansion which was later combined with the original title and released as MechCommander Gold. A sequel also exists (distributed by Microsoft)—MechCommander 2. MicroProse also used many of the ideas in their 2000 Starship Troopers game.Show more

Loved This as a kid and Played for hours and always playing solo. I had to work hard and often restart mission 3 in the first campaign to get the mad cat with all the weapons still functioning. This game is a gem and it and the Gold edition should have been on here years ago in my honest opinion
A game that still looks great today, plays great too - aged far better than the sequel, and one that is an absolute pig to get running on Modern systems - Please GOG you're my only hope

The first management RTS! Crossroads and tracks! An exciting story! You had to pay attention to every little thing during the game. Before starting the mission, it was at least as cool to assemble the team! The best game in the world! I love it! I remember playing it through at least 20 times! But I can't do anything with the physical disk anymore... :(
Spending hours trying to get the first Madcat.... I mean Timber Wolf, was always worth it. The actors and voices lines still hold up, great gameplay, cinematics and story.

Mech Commander is A super unique RTS Experience since the game doesn't have the traditional resource gathering mechanics instead opting for a load-out system where you pick what you launch with. Because of this the game becomes both a mechanical challenge of knowing where and how to move your units, as well as a puzzle of making sure you have tools for different threats like Long range missiles for possibly out ranging turrets in a base you're invading. Super fun and definitely worth being preserved!
An incredible game, and a blast in multiplayer. I remember logging in to the MSN Gaming Zone and just playing for an hour or two against random people. There's nothing else that quite like this smaller-focus tactical game. Shout out to Duane Decker composing a soundtrack that still has tracks seared in my memory 27 years later.

I absolutely love this game, spent countless of hours playing it as a kid, and I even play on occasion now (2025), almost three decades later. It is one of those games that were obviously developed with passion, which shows in almost every aspect of the game - from the cool intro cinematic to mission design, game physics, mech selection, etc. I would love to see this classic on GOG, even though there are several fan versions and mods available out there.
A very difficult game with lots of customizable options. Love the mechs, the pilots voices, the animations. Often played the mission 3 to get the MadCat early in game. The problem to make the less damage possible made me play that mission to the point of desperation! 😃 I love MechCommander 2 also...but the first is my favorite! I would love Microprose ( or any other ) to do a MechCommander 3! Also i'm a entusiast player of MechWarrior 5 and Battletech! Please bring these games back! 😃

I remember this game and it was great! control a small team of mechs in quite big open missions and carry forward the skills and equipment that you've salvage from the enemies choose different types of mech per mission but with a weight limit so you have to think about what the makeup of the team/mechs will be. A true classic underdog in the RTS genre
Great game for those that enjoy the RTS aspect but hate the resource management aspect of most RTS stye games. The was a very well done and 95% lore accurate to the Battletech universe.
Those games also need your vote!

Shining Force III: 2nd Scenario
Shining Force III: 2nd ScenarioScenario 2, Target: Child of God, features Medion, Prince of Destonia, and youngest of three sons of Emperor Domaric. Although loyal to his father and his country, he senses that there are other forces at work beneath the tensions between Aspinia and Destonia. He attends the conference in Saraband on behalf of Destonia, along with his brothers Arrawnt and Mageron. As discovered in Scenario 1, much of this influence comes from the Bulzome sect, as well as collaborating separatist factions within both Destonia and Aspinia. Medion works parallel to Synbios of Aspinia, often disposing of rogue Aspinian elements to spare Synbios's force from fighting against its own countrymen. At the end of the game, Medion is forced to battle with Synbios' force when Julian steps in to stop them.

Shining Force III: 3rd Scenario
Shining Force III: 3rd ScenarioScenario 3, Bulzome Rising, stars Julian, a mercenary who appears as a secondary character in both Scenario 1 and Scenario 2. He is for all intents and purposes the true main character of Shining Force III. His initial motivation as the story begins is to track down and kill Galm, one of, if not the, most powerful member of the Vandals, a powerful race of beings that existed over 1,000 years ago. Julian believes that Galm killed his father and is seeking revenge. This story arc is first introduced in an earlier Shining game, Shining the Holy Ark, in which Julian appears as a young boy who asks the party to search for his missing father. Julian joins Synbios in the midst of his quest in Scenario 1, but after an encounter with Galm, he is tossed over a waterfall at the suspension bridge and believed by Synbios' army to be dead. He reappears in Scenario 2, apparently washing ashore at the site of a battle between Medion's army and the Bulzome Sect. Knowing the sect's ties to the Vandals, Julian agrees to fight alongside Medion. As it becomes clear that the sect is trying to kill Gracia, a child intended to become the next Innovator (A Shining Series figure equatable to a god), Julian takes on the task of protecting him and helping him realize his destiny. Scenario 3 starts about 60% through scenario 2's story, and focuses primarily on battles against the Bulzome Sect and their allies in both Aspinia and Destonia. While scenarios 1 & 2 happen at roughly the same time, much of scenario 3 takes place after both, but there is some "overlap". Eventually Julian leads a three-party coalition consisting of the armies of both Synbios and Medion, to engage in the final conflict against Bulzome, a powerful Vandal long sealed in another dimension, and the true orchestrator of the conflict.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
