On the way, players must talk with hundreds of characters, engage in martial arts battles, and marvel at the realistic depiction of the Japanese coastal town.Show more

Shenmue is truly special to me because it reminds me of the beauty of gaming and what happens when you push the boundaries of what's possible. The attention to detail and realism and potrayal of 1980s life in Japan is truly amazing.

Shenmue is what really gave birth to the AAA games we see now. A beautifully crafted world, awesome soundtrack and a story that hits home. This game came in the very formative years of modern gaming as we know it now. Shenmue's world is richly detailed and expands inwards rather than outwards. A game that walked so many others could run and a title that influenced so many others!

Modern open world games rest on the shoulders of Shenmue. Yu Suzuki and his team at the time were making unheard of design choices that made the streets of Doubita feel alive. This realism and attention to detail immerses the gamer in its dramatic story even today.
Shenmue is easily my favorite game of all time. The amount of characters you can interact with, the detailed world that you can explore, and the groundbreaking fighting system make it an absolute joy to play. Played through all 3 games at least 6 times each and would happily do another playthrough if 1+2 come out here. Please make it happen GOG.

Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand
Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of SandYs V: Kefin, The Lost City of Sand is the fifth game of the series. It was released for Snes in 1995. A remake was released for PS2 in 2006. Adol is travelling through new lands, in search of more adventure, when he hears of the vanished desert city of Kefin. He sets off to investigate this ancient city's disappearance. The RPG-style statistical elements and the overhead view of most of the previous games are retained in Ys V. As in Ys III, there is no auto-attack; the player must press a button to swing Adol's sword. Adol is also given the ability to jump and defend with his shield. A new magic system is introduced in Ys V as well, which requires the player to charge up spells by holding a button before they can be cast.

Ys IV: Mask of the Sun
Ys IV: Mask of the SunAfter having defeated the ultimate evil in his previous adventure, the great hero Adol stands on a sea shore, thinking about the fate of the once peaceful Utopian land of Ys, while the wind is blowing through his red hair. Suddenly, Adol notices a bottle, thrown onto the shore. It contains a letter, written in a foreign language, in which an unknown person asks Adol to come to his land and save it from a mysterious evil. Adol decides to accept the offer, and thus his adventure begins again... Ys IV: Mask of the Sun is an action RPG with a combat system like the earlier Ys games. An enemy should be rammed from the sides in order to hurt him. If performed incorrectly, the player will get hurt himself. It's also possible to use magic and position oneself strategically in battle so that the enemy won't be able to inflict any damage.
