I know somewhat pointless due to a remake on the way. I have a lot of great memories playing the classic version on a few platforms. You get a few paths that alters boss fights to a degree. Most ports adds a lot to make it a truly replayable game. Original Mode is hands down the best mode. You also get Boss Rush mode as well as a firing mini game. There's some truly rememberable creature designs. Saving a lot of people can notably help you out. Otherwise just keep on shooting to find stuff or take out enemies. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing with some good sound effects. If you can get pass the not great voice acting. This is a fun game to play with a friend or family member.

we need more attention for the light gun games, gog would be a big help in collecting these to use on the sinden light gun. get them all another arcade classic
There's at least 4 HoTD games that received a PC Port (6 if we count 4 and Scarlet Dawn, those are actually PC Games into an arcade cabinet) And is a shame that the only way to play it nowdays is throug a bland remakes, it truly needs a release.

While there might be small love for the upcoming REMAKE, this little gem that's on abandonware sites should be recovered and make it work properly on actual PCs. GOG should do their magic with the actual PC releases (1 2 3, THE TYPING OF THE DEAD OVERKILL). Do not ask for 4 or 5, as these never released on PC (Even tho they're in an arcade cabinet)
I used to play the loving crap out of this game as a kid and I probably beat this game more than a 100+ times. A pretty good soundtrack and MARVELOUS voice acting (lol). The game is really fun and super replayable with the original mode, where you can start with different guns and other items along with other different modes like boss rush and a training mode to sharpen your skills. Family members would join in and cheer me on during the boss fights and that created some really great memories. Unfortunately, the game is unplayable on modern hardware and even with lots of tinkering it still has some problems that ruin the experience. It would be awesome if GOG did some of their magic and made this gem fully playable again along with the other titles in the franchise. I hope the revival of this franchise will help bring some attention to the light gun genre.
Those games also need your vote!

The Suffering: Ties That Bind
The Suffering: Ties That BindThe Suffering: Ties That Bind follows in the footsteps of its predecessor by combining a disturbing horror atmosphere with action/shooter gameplay. Players can switch between third person and first person depending on their preference, and will shoot a lot of hideous demonic manifestations of evil before the game is done. The player is also able to transform into a hideous creature at key times in the game, which allows him to engage in intense melee combat. The game includes a morality system which records the player's actions during gameplay and changes the story accordingly, and also alters the player's creature form. Everything from the first The Suffering has been refined and turned up a notch for the sequel.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
