The game seems to have near infinite replayability, being a compelling world with multiple paths and random events affecting the outcome. I spent countless hours playing this in high school and college, and I don't know if I ever completed all the possible scenarios. I do recall finding a way for Timmy to die, which I don't think was supposed to be possible.
David Lynch was interested in making a TV series based on this game (though that never materialized), and maybe his recent passing will shine new light on this strange little piece of history. It existed during the short window of CD-ROM being considered the future of gaming, and won a couple of awards. I knew someone who worked at Microsoft and he told me that he insisted it be used to test new versions of Windows - and it did through XP. Nowadays a virtual machine is required to run it.
