I used to play this game on the most basic Mac mini back when it wasn't even available on Steam, getting online after school, playing with your best friends and those you made along the way.
When UberStrike was shut down, it was probably when one of the most exciting times of our childhood ended. So, when me and my friends were in university (Applied Computer Sciences), we searched for a way to bring it back online by analyzing how the game communicated with the servers, made it to Training mode and left out all gameplay, and we were so happy we've even made it this far.
A few years later, we found a GitHub project that had most of the gameplay implemented. It wasn't perfect and hard to set up, so we worked on our project again to finally complete it. I don't know if I'm allowed to mention any names here, but our project is named after the previous name of UberStrike.
If this game ever gets approved to be available on GOG, I would love to work with the team to bring back the game servers in case GOG wants to make the full experience available to players.
