Hello!
Who would win?
- two battle ready, blood thirsty, raging minotaur
- one shooty boi
If you notice any errors or want to add to my post, feel free to respond.
Just did this fight. What you'll need:
- potion of invisibility. Might not use it, but if you are caught it's a way out.
- potion of haste. See above
- Bow or X-bow
- Blessing of the trickster. Shadowheart has it
- A character you can rely on for stealth
- Just a quick reference for hiding in shadows: empty sun means you are fully concealed, half sun means you are partially illuminated, and full sun means you are in bright light. When you enter stealth your mouse cursor will show you this automatically.
Some of the plants (I think they're called nightlights?) emit light. You can grab them and make the place a tad darker.
Remove the stealth character from your group, and put your group on top of the portcullis. This is so if the minotaur somehow make it back to your group, they'll have a hard time reaching the party. Alternatively, you can just kite the minotaur to the structure, and snipe them from the top of the gate. It was hard for me to do this because if you go too fast, they'll lose interest and return back to their patrols; and if you are too slow, they will flatten you and return to their standard route. If you are caught and are in point blank range, drink your invisibility potion and fall back. If you are caught and have some distance between you and them, use the potion of haste. Then use dash and go back to the Selunite shrine. They won't be able to keep up. Jumping out of an area does not trigger an attack of opportunity.
Do a manual save before attempting to fight them. If it hasn't been obvious already, your ranged/stealth character is doing this solo. Enter stealth and go into the purple cloud. Say "whatevs" to the voice and make sure you are still in stealth. You want to stay just out of range of the minotaur's sight. Do not get too close, you don't want combat to start just yet. Take your first shot when you can, and you'll enter combat. You'll be allowed to take another shot. Do that and go back into stealth mode. Now when this happens, you need to move back. They have a jump/stomp aoe attack, and they'll use it in the spot the arrow came from.
So from now on, here's what we're doing. You need to do this in order, or you are done like dinner. 1) take a shot, 2) hide in shadows, and 3) move to another place that's safe to hide in. If you don't end your turn by hiding, you will be completely visible. Rinse and repeat until they're dead. I was hoping to level up from this encounter, but I only got 100 XP. They have some stuff you can sell. In one of my attempts, the minotaur knocked me down to another level, and then jumped/stomped me. A bulette popped out and one-shotted the minotaur. I have no idea how I'll defeat that monster, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. The minotaur attacked me because I botched the rotation. That's all I can think of for now. ttyl
