Gandomyr: I'm 20 hours into the game. I encountered only one quest that I couldn't complete. Game is in a pretty polished state. It takes a while to get used to it. It is very well written. Personally, I love it. However, I wouldn't expect anyone to spend 60 euro just because I said so. I didn't play any Larian games in the past, but I played other RPGs and I played and finished the original Baldur's Gate games.

Some people were worried that, being made by Larian, this game will have a "too happy" tone to it. Or that they may just go the oposite site and make it dark and gritty just because it's cool and for no particular reason tied to the story. I think it is not the case. Larian nailed it. I thought it would be very hard to make a proper Baldur's Gate game, with atmosphere, exploration, characters, and everything that else about the game world that made the Baldur's Gate games so good. I think they actually succeed to reach that high bar.

However, I may be thinking it this way because I didn't really expect it of them. It may not seem so in the beginning, when you're surrounded by stuff way too powerful for level 1 characters, but those thing are there just to set the story. To those that expected a start similar to BG1, where you start in Candlekeep and you're doing chores and killing rats and curing cows and whatnot... this is not exactly it. You're not going to fight things that are over your level, combat encounters are the usual for a low level party, but the intro is somewhat spectacular. I understand if some people who loved BG1 would not like that. I'm ok with it, but I'm just saying, in case you buy it, to know what to expect of it.

Gandomyr: It's a song. :D
Cool! And what does a song have to do with what I asked?

You've started a whole thread for a pretty stupid q and I just thought I'd make it worth something. The track is admired by millions worldwide.
Don't thank me.

You're so funny. The question I asked was anything but stupid. I would imagine others are wondering the same thing. If you don't like the question then simply don't post.
>You're so funny.
glad you liked it after all.

I post were I like. Its teh Internets so deal with it.

as for your q why don't you take your own advice bc half of threads (unsurprisingly) already reference it in some way and are much more expansive than this one? why not post there? and with a q like that you'd not need to post at all, just read what others have already posted.

They both (your question and the song) start with "Should I..."

ShadowWalker56: One other thing....is it a good game?
Right now, what there is of it ...? Worth thirty bucks, even if they closed up shop and never did a single thing more to finish the game.

And I doubt we've seen even 1/4 of what it will be, in 12-18 months' time.

...

Which is to say, YES, yes it is a good game. A very, very good game.

If nothing else, I will be using it to create character portraits for my TTRPG gaming needs for years to come. (Now, if only half-elves didn't all have to look like 14- to 16-year-old kids .... ha! I hope there'll be more faces available, maybe even an Age slider, by the time the game releases. :) )
