So, 2.01 dropped a few days ago. And the moment I updated it, the game crashes before the launch. I play on Steam, on my PC. No mods, nothing of sorts that could hinder the perofmance and process. And I know for certain that it started after 2.01, becuase I played the game before the update the other night. Now it just throws me from the first loading screen saying that "the game stopped working" and offers to send an error report. I did so a couple of times, but the situation doesn't change.

Has anyone else encountered the same problem?

Same behaviour with me, but on GOG. A complete reinstall did not solve the problem. No mods or anything alike installed, latest Nvidia drivers did not solve any problem.
I opened a ticket, but did not get any answer so far.

Same, I'm crashing constantly now.

Good to know that I'm not alone on this pain train.
Have you looked at this thread?

Yes, did that before posting, but the null folder already is there (due to patch 2.01, I presume). But as there is no help from GOG I will try to downgrade Nvidia drivers as well.
Yup, did all those fixes, still crashes after the Cyberpunk 2077 splash screen. I can barely see a dim CD Project Red splash screen, but that's where it freezes and locks up that monitor, I have to use my second monitor to see my task manager and close the program.

Same here for me. Doesn't work for me. Doesn't require a task manager but makes the thing crash anyway.
Solved the problem after all - Avira Antivirus free was causing the crash. Deinstalling (not deactivating) did the job.

Avira runs smoothly without causing problems with Cyberpunk on another computer, but not on my the the gaming notebook with Win11 it seems.

Oh, wait! So, it is possible that the antivirus is causing these issues?

Oh yeah, an antivirus can cause all kinds of issues.

I had my antivirus (Avast) turn out to be the reason for why my audio started to crackle, and with increased intensity over time (anything from hours to a couple days). Onboard or dedicated audio card, no change.

Restarting my PC fixed it temporarily until the issue came back, and get this: the audio issue did not appear when I had unplugged / deactivated my network cards . Onboard or dedicated network card or WiFi made no change.

That particular issue was called "DPC latency", and took me 3 months before I finally nailed it, verified the culprit...and promptly uninstalled Avast. No issues since.

Old issue now, but just as an example to your question.

That is good and all, but I personaly use ESET, and, honestly, I had no issues with the game before the update. And I tried to see, if my antivirus reacted to the launch, but it seems as if it is perfectly fine with it. No problems, no error messages, it just lways writes that the game stopped working and it asks me to send the report to CD Project servers.
I'm still on patch 2.0, so I can't speak to your issue. Don't see your hardware listed either, so it's hard to say, but I have had similar issues in both Cyberpunk 2077 and other games when my GPU was out of VRAM.

As it turns out, Youtube tabs LOVES VRAM as well as system RAM, which was my issue at least once before I became wise to it. Disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox reduced the VRAM usage, but at much higher system RAM demands.

Haven't read through this thread, but try running the game in windowed mode. If you can't get to the main menu anymore, try adding to the shortcut path:
-window

Make sure the shortcut leads directly to the game .exe and not through the default desktop shortcut.

Or if that doesn't work, try editing the settings file.
%LOCALAPPDATA% \CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077

Open UserSettings.json in any text editor, and replace whatever it says under WindowMode with:

"name": "WindowMode",
"type": "string_list",
"is_dynamic": true,
"value": "BorderlessWindowed",
"index": 1

Make a backup of this file first, as I have never tried editing it myself.
