I'm sure this has been covered before, but I cannot seem to get the Search function to work so I have to ask.

I am running a win 11 laptop with an RTX 3080Ti. My computer easily meets the specs for the game.

I have not received an error message on crash; just the CD Projekt Red "Flatline" report link that comes up every time the game crashes.

This is a new install of the game, never before installed on this laptop. No mods.

It worked for about an hour, then after I shut it down for a few minutes, it just refused to launch.

Here's what I've tried:

1. Many sites recommend this: Users/Username/Appdata/Local/CD Projekt Red/Cyberpunk 2022 folder -- delete the file UserSettings.json.

That path does not exist on my laptop, nor does that file exist on my laptop.

2. Run as Admin -- did not work

3. Run in compatibility mode -- did not work.

4. Update driver -- driver is the latest from NVidia.

5. Ensure Firewall is not blocking the game -- it is not.

6. In Nvidia Settings -- make sure Overlay is off/unchecked. -- did not work.

At this point I don't know what to do. I am so disappointed.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

SO, I was able to find the file that is supposed to be the issue. I couldn't find it before because the file was hidden.

The path is: c:/Users/ (your nameor profile name) /AppData/Local/CD Projekt Red/Cyberpunk 2077. In that folder find and remove the file named "UserSettings.json

If you can't find it, the file is probably hidden. You can look up how to unhide it. It's just a setting you can change.

This is only temporary for me . I have to do this every time I want to play, but at least I CAN play.

EDIT: Even better! It launches all the time now, no need for any tweaking at all. Removing that file did the job.

Damn it. I have no CD Projekt Red folder in my Local.
The closest thing I have in local is GOG.com, but no UserSettings.json to be seen in the User/AppData subdirs.

It is pretty frustrating as I have been waiting with playing the game until it was matured. and I had a new rig.
So now I am sitting on a new computer with an 7900xtx at it crash as soon as I launch it. It also causes my drivers to go haywire and freezes AMD adrenaline.

yes, I have verified install etc.

Anyone with suggestions?
Hello there, I've had a similar journey so far. While Iam on a Radeon6700XT and I know that the Windows update can cause problems with the drivers, I had used DDD to block System Updates for the drivers and I'm on 23.12.1 (which is the latest version sans betas).

I bought PL yesterday, installed it and was a bit annoyed when CP2077 started to download 2 patches of around 20gb AFTER the PL packet of 55gb, but oh well. Started the game when all was done, got a Cyberpunk 2077 splash screen and then darkness... wait a good long while (HDD install) and nothing, aight, end of the line. "close window" via context menu from the Taskbar, CP shut down without complaint. Tried twice more, same results.

Started GoG Galaxy, went to CP and went for "verify & repair" 51mb update was downloaded that got stuck at 92% completion, entire afternoon of possible gaming ruined I opted for a reinstall.

Rise & Shine, CP is done cooking, happy gaming with a fresh brew of morning coffee... except the screen went as black as my morning potion after the CP2077 splash screen... are you kidding me? Verify & Repair, damn you... the ominous 51mb patch strikes back and gets stuck @92% installation.

Went for the deletion of said "UserSettings.json", cancelled the 51mb update and went for a reboot for good measure... no luck.

Edit: Aaaand Iam an Idiot... like many others, I had the skip intro movies mod installed and forgotten to manually delete the respective folders, so when I reinstalled CP+PL the mod was still active, but being for the base game only, it fracked up the loading of PL, now on to find said mod with PL compatibility and F all publishers who force us to always have to wait through their effing adverts.

So you got it to run?

Currently doing a reinstall.
